Question:

My 2 week old baby boy's stool is green?

My baby boy is 2 weeks old and we just noticed that his stool has turned a greenish color. It was a yellow mustardy type before but we has recently noticed traces of green poo. When we changed him today it was a green color. Is this normal or some kind of infection.

  1. It goes from yellow to green...especially when formula feeding.

I nursed so I saw yellow until I started with the formula and baby food.

  2. Normal. If you're breastfeeding, think about what you ate - it's pretty much what he's eating. Stool can be pretty much any color based on what the baby ingests. (I know of a toddler who ate a Magic Marker and had blue p**p. Talk about a way to freak out parents!)

The only time you worry about the color of the stool is if it's black like tar (signs of an internal bleed) and it'll be BLACK not just really dark brown. Or white like mayonnaise - that's a sign of a liver issue. Or bloody stools. Any other color is okay.

  3. Ask your GP, why would you be asking medical questions regarding your 2 week old baby on here?

  4. This is perfectly normal. Do not worry about it. If you need an advise, contact the health visitor. They will be happy to help

  5. hi it may be colic get some gripe water

  6. It is normal.

Their poo can vary from yellow to green and to sometimes it being brown.

Ask your doctor if you could have a p**p chart.

Good luck and I hope all works out for you.

  7. If your baby is formula fed, his poo can be green because of the iron in the formula. If your baby is breastfed, it can be a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. Or it could just be normal for your baby. Ask your doctor and see what they have to say just to be certain. Good Luck!

  8. My sons p**p is always green. It is normal.  Just mention on his next check up.  The doc will also tell you it is normal.  I know it is hard, but try not to worry about it.  :)

  9. yeah - its fine. Some babies poohs are the yellow for ages and some are like a mukey green. Breast fed  babies have mostly yellow pooh's but sometimes green, if you switch to formula or change something that you are eating - that can also affect pooh's - You wait till bub gets into the kids paint when he is older - lol You will be getting, red, blue, yellow and green poohs then lol

  10. If you feed the baby, Peas or anything green

what color do you think his poo should be ?

baby food takes very little digestion, so his

poo will be what ever color you feed him.

  11. If you are breastfeeding it usually means that during a feed your baby didn't get enough hind milk ie didn't stay on the breast long enough.  As you know they get a good drink of watery stuff first from the breast and after that then the more nutritious hind milk.  It's just a sign that you need to keep baby on that breast a bit longer and if they only feed for a short time on a particular breast then put them back onto that one next time.

  12. It's normal, most babies stools are green. Nothing to worry about.

  13. It all depend on your baby is breastfeed or formula feed baby as their stools are different in color.

  14. If you are seriously concerned, speak to your child health nurse or gp. In my experience ( two children both bottle/breastfed) that if you are breast feeding, it can simply be a change in your diet that will affect bubs p**p. If you have changed from breast to bottle in the last day or two than this also will change the colour of the p**p.

  15. it's perfectly normal, babies stools will change colour.

  16. Yes its normal. Newborns stool changes frequently in color. The only color you dont want to see if black(its black at first of course). Black stools can mean theres blood.

  17. if a baby has green poo then he has a tummy upset.. just keep an eye on him.. he should be ok..

try and think as to what could have caused this, have you changed his milk etc?

i am sure he will be fine..
