My 2 year old HP

Question

My 2 year old HP laptop and suddenly stopped working. It was up and running when I walked away for a few minutes. I came back and the screen was totally black and now NOTHING happens. The screen remains black at all times. I tried replacing the power cord, but that didn't solve the problem either. Do you have any ideas? I sure could use the help.
