He goes to sleep around 9:00 but is awake two hours later. My husband thinks that he just wants to sleep with us, but that's not true because he has trouble sleeping with us too. His pediatrician prescribed him Periactin. It helps a little bit, but he is jittery next day. Give me ideas please. We are hard working people and we are suffering from lack of sleep.

  1. Try warm milk before bed, it really does work.

Also, maybe more exercise during the day would make him more tired at night, and help him to sleep harder, longer!

  2. I feel sorry for all of you, as sleep is very important. I don't know if this would work for him, but before I go to bed, I take a nice warm shower with a nice warm cup of milk afterwards. I feel so relaxed.

    Good luck

  3. My son is the same way......he was a very good sleeper till the age of 2 then all of a sudden he wouldnt sleep anymore....my docs didnt want to prescribe him any meds because like whatu said it would make them Jittery or disorented the next day.....so i went to a health store and found this stuff (that is all natural) its called Calm ages 0-9, its supposed to help with restlessness and tempory sleeping disorders.....and it has worked wounders for my son......if that doesnt help bring him back to the doc and see if there is anything else he can do to help u with this.....i know how it feel to go with no sleep!!!

  4. My son started having trouble going to bed (not getting up in the night) when he was getting too much sleep during the day.  I cut out his nap and now he goes to bed a little earlier and sleeps really well.

If that's not it, maybe he's just going through a phase.  How long has he been doing this?  Sometimes my son would go through a phase like that for a week or so, and then be fine.

  5. well i think give him some warm milk before goes to sleep so it can relax him and kinda rock him to sleep and he'll be out like a light.

  6. I feel your pain, going through the same thing.

My son is doing the same, but he is waking hungry.  We think it's a growth spurt.  We tried all sorts of stuff, but lately jsut giving him milk workds

  7. Do you do the exact same thing with him every night before bed?  My son doesn't sleep well if he doesn't stay on his schedule and follow his routine.  He eats supper, has a bath, has a mini massage (we used to do full baby massage, now he's 2 and doesn't want to sit still for very long but it does seem to relax him), we read 3 books and sing 2 songs and he goes to bed.  Also we turn on a fan in his room and we have light blocking shades so it's really dark in his room.  We got the cheapest, nosiest fan we could find and it really helps.  Good Luck.
