We have been to a dermatologist, and she gave him a steroid cream to put on it but he keeps breaking out all over. Is there some type of natural suplement that can work through his system to clear this problem up?

  1. Look at his diet. Most often these type of things in children are linked to allergies and/or food sensitivites. Peanuts and dairy are usually the most common causes, also wheat is a big one. Try eliminating some things from his diet and see if it improves. Replace cow milk with rice milk and such. Eliminate as much sugar and processed food as possible, go for organic if possible. Add some type of quality brand DHA supplement that is made for children, choose a quality brand from a health food store. Also a children's probiotic would be good.

  2. my suggestion would be to see a Homeopathic Practitioner.

Steroid creams don't work but you didn't need me to tell you that.

Your son's body is trying to expel a toxin through his skin and a homeopath can really help aid in the detoxification process so that the problem doesn't come back. They don't treat symptoms they look at the big picture and treat the cause so that the sympstoms don't come back.

  3. Is he still in diapers?  If so he could be having a common rash from the chemicals in diapers.  Try using cloth (if this is the problem) diapers to see if this helps.  Run him a bath with some baking soda and apple cinder vinegar added to it.  After the bath, wet a cotton ball with the apple cider vinegar and run him down where the rash is.  This is very effective with eczema, shingles psoriasis etc.  If that doesn't work try a bath of ground oatmeal and baking soda.

Try seeing if it is a food allergy, try eliminating wheat, then dairy, and DEF. soy (not good for children).

Try visiting earthclinic.com  there are a lot of remedies for anything from allergies to skin conditions.  Good luck

  4. Try using a 5% solution of Tea tree oil and water on his skin . If it is fungal or bacterial this will take care of it. Also you might want to look at food sensitivities. Try cutting out one thing from his diet for a week and see if it changes how he feels. The most common allergies are Wheat, Eggs, Dairy, and Citrus.

  5. I would actually (partly) agree with some of your answerers, that it may be an allergy of some sort.  Food allergies are often hard to sort out, as you need to eliminate things for weeks before you may see an effect, and it is really hard to completely avoid certain foods.

If the cream isn't working, then you should tell the dermatologist as they need to know.  You really shouldn't be getting a virtual second opinion from (mostly) uninformed strangers on the internet.   A lot of rashes look alike, though Dermatologists are usually pretty good at the "gestalt" of rash identification.  Sometimes blood tests or skin biopsies are needed.   What did the Derm tell you it was?  Did they say psoriasis, or is that just your take on it.  Psoriasis is very uncommon in little kids, eczema is far more likely.

The key to proper treatment is getting an accurate diagnosis....and you are not going to get that on this forum.

  6. I agree, the diet can play a big part in kids having problems.  Have him checked for food allergies and intolerances.

Take him to a natural health specialist, such as a Naturopath, Napropath, or Certified Natural Health Professional, and find out what herbs would be good for him.  Probably something for his liver.  The liver is very often the root of skin problems. (and by the way, drugs such as steroids usually are very hard on the liver, and if that's where the problem is coming from, the drugs will only make it worse in the long run)

In the meantime, 100% natural, pure, unrefined African Shea Butter is awesome for treating the symptoms.  Much easier on his little growing body than steroids.

  7. Is it an allergic reaction to something?

    Does he have eczema?

You can change his diet and watch what washing detergent you use on his clothes.

Get him on some oil tablets.
