  1. tell him to be a man

  2. Please DO NOT send your child to a psychologist. I had to see one when I was 6 and have never recovered from the traumatic experience.

  3. Ive suffered with horrifically graphic dreams nightmares my whole life, some of which I can remember from when I was about 4 or 5, I think its important to get your son to speak about his dreams as much as possible so that you can reassure him that he's safe and loved and has nothing to worry about....I found that help me. If you find that its not helping him by talking to him well maybe a psychologist is the way to go, it would be best to help him at this early stage than letting it carry on into adulthood. good luck.

  4. my 2 year old daughter had the same problem, i was told by the heath visitor that this is a common problem a this age because the children are using there imagination more but are not yet able to understand some of the images they are getting in their dreams. my little girl is now coming up to 3 and is having them less and less. your son will hopefully grow out of them the older he gets and the more he understands

  5. Most young children experience very bad nightmares or night terrors. If your son is experiencing them bad enough to warrant a psychological referral then this really is the best thing for him.

for most of us - nightmares represent our anxieties (in some way or another) so maybe your 2 year old needs to learn how to better make sense of the world around him.

The psychologist may specialise in sleep disorders and be better able to combat the problem. They are able to monitor brain activity during sleep and it maybe that a simple change in routine could do wonders for your boy. Worst case scenario I would say would be for your child to be given medication to assist peaceful sleep - this will be very carefully monitored.

Don't make the mistake of viewing the psychologist purely as a Psychotherapist - this is only one discipline that exists within psychology and for a 2-year-old it is unlikely that psychotherapy will be useful (unless your boy has experienced a traumatic event).

In short - there is a lot that can be done for your son from accessing psychological services. I hope everything is sorted soon.

  6. I went through this, although I was 14 at the time.

I had day and night tremors, and found it hard to explain what I was seeing/hearing.

The only test that the doctors can do are to wait until your sun is asleep and then hook him up to a machine to measure whats going on in his brain.

I ended up growing out of mine, and I only have a maximum of 1 a year now.

Hopefully you're son gets better soon.

  7. not quite sure I understand the question

    but

the physcologist will try to find the root

of the problem why is he having nightmares?

    what is causing them ?

then the physcologist will find a way to treat the symptom

hypnotists and nlp practitionare"s are great

    at this kind of thing

Did something happen in your family recently ?

a death or some kind of loss ?

theses things can effect people in different ways !

    sorry cant be more help

    good luck

You could sak your son to draw what he sees in his nightmare this could help

  8. That's so odd, what has happened to him that he needs to see a specialist at such a young age?

Why don't you get him a dream catcher, and tell him that this thing stops the bad dreams getting into his head?

  9. Pick that baby up and let him sleep in his Mommas arms!!!
