  1. Just reassure him he is a big boy and he doesn't need you to carry him everywhere and refuse to hold him. Also, let him know he is doing a good job walking places on his own. Eventually the problem will stop.

  2. my son was like that and he's getting over it Little by little

I started by picking him up then I would take his lovey ( Mr. monkey) and leave it on the floor, or every time I get him a new toy or a snack that he likes he can only have it in the floor or chair but not while he's picked up, so it's has been a long process but he's getting used to it, and when he cries I distract him with a toy or his favorite CD. SOMETIMES IT WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T

  3. "No" is not a dirty word. Make sure you have an excuse (carry a bag) and just remind him he is a big boy who is really helping you by walking.

  4. remind him thats hes a big boy and can walk on his own. If its the stairs you could encourage him to try to count the stairs on his way up or down and make a game of it.

  5. It's easy--don't pick him up!

  6. Easy: Stop carrying him. He may throw a few fits, but he'll eventually stop when you stop giving into his demands.
