in a terrible rash. Rash in an inderstatement. Her behind is raw! She is in a lot of pain and I want to fix it. It doesn't seem like bathing and cream is helping. Any suggestions?

Can I leave her without a diaper? If so, how do I deal with the mess of it? Thanks

  1. You need to call her doctor they can give her something for it.  Now to relieve it while you are at home.  You can give her a baking soda bath.  It will help to dry out her bottom.  Corn starch also helps to dry it out.  You can leave her with out a diaper for a little while.  Her crib mattress should have a plastic coating on it.  You could put her in it while she is out of her diaper.  That will help you with the mess.

  2. One of two suggestions the  child is allergic to the soap you are using to wash its bedding and tops with or the detergent contains a perfume the child is allergic to.  Or the household cleaners you use may cause the reaction.

Also it may be that when you clean you are not rinsing the areas or materials the child comes in contact with good enough.

  3. My son just got over this a couple weeks ago and his hiney was SO RAW it hurt me to change him bc he just cried and cried.  So I feel your pain.  Boudreaux's Butt Paste is the best for this.  After you bathe her, let her hiney air dry for a bit and then apply the butt paste and apply it at every diaper change til the burn goes away.

The Balmex and Desitin are too greasy and don't work as well as the Butt Paste.  Good luck and hope she feels better!

  4. If its that bad, take her to the doctor now or first thing in the morning. Be sure she is getting plenty of fluids, diarrhea causes dehydration. You can try no diaper and just run around behind her, but that'll get old after 1 or 2 clean ups. Butt paste works great so long as the rash isn't caused by yeast. If so, the dr. can prescribe a cream that'll clear it up in no time. Yes they can. My daughter had a little rash, it wasn't bothering her, but when she went in for her regular check up they saw it and said it looked as though it could have been a rash caused by yeast and prescribe a cream for it. Worked great...and still does whenever she gets a little bump or two I'll dabbed a little on.

  5. Before calling the Dr. go to the local walgreens and ask for "Butt Paste". I swear that's what its called! It works wonders. If that doesn't fix it in a couple of days call the doc.

  6. You mean you don't have a doctor?  And if you do why haven't you called or taken her in yet?

  7. Keep her naked for a couple hours.

Use Balmex when you need to put the diaper back on.

Also change her out of a diaper as soon as she goes in it  :)

  8. The first thing you should do is take her to a doctor to rule out any stomach viruses or food poisioning.

I remember when my oldest daughter was about 7 months and she had diarrhea so bad that I was shaking!  The thing that helped for her was "Kaopectate.  You can buy that in the drug store and I gave her a spoon of it.  It cleared it up the next day.  You may have to give her a few doses after a few hours but the next day it cleared up for my daughter.  I know it's scary to give her that kind of medicine at such a young age, but the doctor recommended that I use it and it helped.

For the diaper rash, I use Desitin and it eventually cleared up.  Her behind is probably raw because she's being changed more due to her diarrhea.
