Hi everyone. My son who is 20 months old is getting this horrible diaper rash and its starting to bleed. He is getting it on his back side and where kids usually get a diaper rash. I have done everything that I could think to try to treat it, but as soon as you think it is going away it comes right back. I have taken him to the doctor, and she seems to think it could be from the brand of diapers. I have changed diapers and it is still coming back. Do you guys have any suggestions? Please don't tell me " ohhh, you need to potty train him" I am working with him with it, so he is trying.. any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

  1. When my kids got rashes i gave them time out of there nappy fresh air is good, and when u do to save mess going every where, place them on a plastic and cover it with a sheet or a towel or let them run out side, and wen you put there nappy on again vasaline and pack it on......................... and this prevents it from getting rewet.

  2. I agree for letting the little bum get as much exposure to air as possible.  To prevent big messes on the carpet, you can put him in loose sweat-pants with no diaper.  It's still messy but not as bad.

You can also start rinsing him under the tap instead of using wipes.

Personally I think we sometimes apply too many products.  Try not using any powder, vaseline or creams for a couple days and see what happens.

  3. My son got a diaper rash at the hospital. They swore up and down to use zinc oxide on his tush, which, in fact, made it 20 times worse. I ended up getting A&D ointment. It was clear within 3 days of A&D vs over a week of worsening condition with the zinc oxide. You can also try using toddler underwear. After you change a diaper, don't put any ointment on him, just put some cotton underwear on him and let him "air dry" for awhile. The air will help him heal. Then put ointment on and diaper him up.

  4. Oh bless his heart!!!

Did your ped not think that it could be a diaper rash with a touch of yeast infection?  Especially since it keeps coming back??

I know that my daughter has had a rash in the past similar to that.  Go to the drug store and buy some Lotrimin.  Use that on his bottom and then put a layer of vaseline over the top to act as a barrier against the urine and f***s touching his skin.  It should clear up pretty quick if it is a yeast infection.

Best of luck, I hope his poor bottom gets some relief soon!!!

  5. I use A&D on my baby. Its the only thing I have ever used because it works really well, and time there is a sign of redness I put it on. He just had diaper rash pretty bad from pooping while he was sleeping (poor guy) It was pretty bad. But, t took about 4 days with the A&D for it to go away. Also, try letting it air out really well inbetween changes and change often. Good luck! Poor little tushies!

  6. Hi, I have 2 children now 5 & 3.

My ex baby-sitter uses this to treat my 2 kids with nappy rash. you can think abt it.

Instead of using baby powder, use tapioca flour to powder the affected area. this is becos the tapioca flour adsorb the wetness. thus it will keep the affected area dry.

    and it work wonderfully

  7. my daughter is 20mths too

she gets bad nappy rash aswell, so red raw that she dosent want me to hold her

i find she gets it when her poo is soft,, id say from eating too much fruit like mandarines or sweets like chocolate

i cant stop it coming but ways i treat it or prevent it getting worse is change her nappy as soon as i smell something, lol,, and ALWAYS when i change her nappy use CURASH baby powder, even when shes got no rash as it helps prevent it

and when shes got full on redness i use SUDOCREAM,,, it heals so fast, if u can get some try it, i love it, its the only nappy rash cream i buy

    and good luck, xxxxxxxxxxxxx
