My 2002 chevy S10 at times when i go to start it won't start. WHat could be the problem?

After cranking my key 15 plus times it will start at some point. Sometimes it starts with one key turn like normal...

  1. I had that problem one time and it was because the temperature sensor was bad.  IOW, it thought the truck was overheating when it was not and the fail-safe mechanism prevented it from starting.  

    Or, as someone else said, it could be the starter.  


  2. If the engine isn't cranking then it has a bad starter solenoid, but first make sure the battery cables are clean and tight.

  3. Your starter make be going up. You should go to a auto part store or your car dealer and see if they can test it for you. Or it may be your battery dying. You can also get that tested.

  4. someone keeps switching your engine out between a chevy engine, and a ford engine

    it was an experiment to see if you could tell the difference
