My 2003 Ford Focus (stick shift) has been acting up a little bit. In the mornings when I start my car, it starts with no problem, however, once I put it in reverse gear and start accelerating, an odd noise comes from the engine directly in front of the passenger seat. Kind of like it is behind the glove compartment. It has nothing to do with the car actually rolling, just the engine. When I am in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear and let off the gas and the RPMs start going down, the car gets slower more quickly and makes this strange grinding sound. My car does make the noise when I am accelerating, however it makes the sound the loudest once I let my foot off the accelerator, while keeping it in gear. Hard sound to explain, hopefully somebody can help.

  1. It might be your throwout bearing. best bet is to have it inspected.
