  1. I can only imagine her as a teenager, ha ha.  Just joking.  Just try to stop her from doing it not much you can do.

  2. Walk away from her when she says the word when she is telling you something.

  3. this is more prevalent than you think.  i've a fourth grader who has to force herself not to do this and this has been going on awhile.

this is how kids speak today.  sit down and watch kid tv (any show any chanddel) for a week and i don't mean cartoons.  you will tear your hair out.

the little ones are just emulating the older ones.

  4. The only thing to do is to say the word every time she says it.

For example, she says.........Like (you ...Like?) I think it is like (you ....like?)

really like  (you...like?) hard to like (you..like?) stop saying like.

If you do this, she will see how many times she says the word and if you do it all the time, she will get tired of you saying the word after her and she may try to stop.

It worked with my niece. Her word was actually. No one liked when she said that word constantly.

  5. oh wow lol! well she probably picked up dat habit from da people she hangz out with or da environment she has at skool. probably alot of people talkz dat way & i guess da gurl cant help it if she picks up da gurly accent. i think the only thing u have 2 worry about is da way she writez essayz or other writing pieces. just make sure dat that "like" thing doesn't appear on her writing work. i think itz ok if sshe speakz like dat in public.

  6. if you constantly tell her not to do it, she will do it more. a tip would be to record her saying it then play it back to her...she will realize how foolish she sounds

  7. I was in the same situation, except I was the "like" person. I said like ALWAYS. Until I turned about 20-21 and conciously made an attempt to count how many times a day I said like. My heart goes out to you. I am a second grade teacher and I try to get the kids to realize they say LIKE all the time, and they just don't grasp it. It will come with age. Best of luck.

  8. I went through that phase many years ago.  I was spending the day with my dad out and about running errands one day when he issued a challenge to me.  Before I said anything I was to formulate in my mind EXACTLY what I was going to say.  It worked.  Kids use "filler" words like "like" and "umm" because they don't give their minds enough time to formulate a sentence.  You might try what my father did.

If I were dealing with it though, this is probably what I would do (because my son LOVES money).  I would start with a jar of nickels.  For every time that he said "like", I would subtract a nickel.  At the end of the day - he could keep all the nickels in the jar.  Of course, you'd have to explain how the game was going to work before you start.

  9. imitate her- talk using like a lot maybe she will pick up on it

    or 2

ask her what is it like (gets very annoying) when ever she says like
