Question:

My 2yr old cat can't move his hind leg?

Lucky, my cat (male) fractured his pelvis 2 days ago and we brought him to the vet. They took an x-ray and the fracture is very mild and no surgery is needed. With rest and pain meds, it'll heal. The bad news is he can't move is hind leg or paw,or stand on it. The vet pinched it an he has no feeling in it. She said to wait 3 days for him to move it and if he does, that's great news. If he only feels it, wait 3 weeks for him move it. If he does neither, his leg will just flop there with him. He can't walk now because it hurts. I am extremely sad and scared he will never be able to use that leg again and be the active cat he was. Sometimes when I squeeze his paw, he growls, but sometimes he doesn't. It has something to do w/ the nerve. Do you think maybe he can feel it, or he is just upset? I love Lucky so much and I am constantly praying for him. You can help too by praying. Has something like this ever happened to anyone else? Your answers are greatly appreciated!

  1. i think that it might be broken try to go to a vet and see the problem

  2. if he still cant move it in about 2 weeks, take it to the vet once more. I'm praying for Lucky too!

  3. I'm so sorry this happened to your cat.  I wanted to let you know that even if worse comes to worse and he has to loose his leg, (not saying that he will) most cats and dogs do very well with only three legs.   Try not to worry, I know it's hard not to.  He's under the care of a vet, and I'm sure they're doing everything they can to help him.  I will keep Lucky in my prayers.  :)
