i have a 3 12 inch sealed enclosure box and from what i understand that only ported boxes made right will get the loudest but having limited trunk space i probably cant get a ported box in there.since i have 3 12s..... in 4.14 cubic feet do u still think it will get really loud.. i am running a mtx audio thunder at 1.33 ohms..it pushes 1200 rms and i have 3 pioneer premier 400 rms subs

  1. well you may not be able to get a competition ported box but you may be able to get a ported box. they make some that have circular holes on top that are ports and it dosent make the box any bigger. here a link to see what they look like.  as far as finding one you would really just have to look around. if not find some1 who can custom make this.

  2. Ported boxes are going to be bigger and require more power to operate the speakers efficently.  I don't know that much about your amp, but it sounds like it will power the speakers.  It won't push them as hard as they could be pushed.  I have always been a big fan of having a separate amp for each sub if you can afford it.

  3. the reason a ported box is bigger is because the port doen't not count as box volume. stay away from ported boxs that you can get with a  4" round port that is short and the box is small, or the same size it sould be if it wasn't ported. the tuning will be extermely high and it will be loud and punchy. you can do external ports...or ports that are 1/2 in and 1/2 out. but anything you put in the box, the box must be made that much larger to maintain the tuning.

the box pictured above is a perfect example i'm talking about...it will be tuned really high. the other thing to remember is the more port area (the port opening) you have the longer the port will need to be to maintain tuning. 3 12's is a 4cu' box should have at least 48sq" or port area. you should shoot for a tuning in the low 30Hz range

i could try and design you a ported box that will fit...hit me up.
