Question:

My 3 month old baby had fallen off the foot of my bed. Is it safe to assume he's fine?

My bed sits a few inches off the floor and my baby fell face up. He does not have a knot/bump on his head, no bruises and no broken arms or legs. I've massaged his back and his spine seems to be intact, I've also massaged and stretched his arms and legs. My happy baby boy seemed to have just bounce back after picking him up off the floor and consoling him. I have faith that he is fine and pray that just a headache is the worst that came from this frightful fall.

  1. I'm sure he's fine!

Just keep an eye on him.  If he starts acting differently or vomiting more than usual then he needs to see the doctor. Vomiting is a sign of a concussion, but I seriously doubt you should worry about that.

  2. He is most likely fine. If he starts acting funny then i'd call your doctor. No visible marks, and no changes in his behavior then he is probably ok.

  3. he is probably fine but you should take him to the doctor just to be sure. He could have internal injuries and he is too young to chance it!

  4. If I were you I would set up an appointment to see a doctor. You never can be to safe and even the slightest fall for a 3 month old baby might end up having some long term effects. If you go and you find out your baby is okay then you will feel a lot more comfortable know than not and if something is wrong then you know and you can seek proper medical attention. There is something called shaken baby syndrome, which causes long term effects in a baby's brain. You didn't shake your baby but a baby's head is extremely fragile in their young years. Get it checked up it will make you feel much better hearing its okay from a professional than from people on yahoo.

  5. My little man fell off the change table when he was about 4 months. I freaked out - as you probably did - he cried for a few minutes but after that was fine - i saw the clinic nurse the next day & she said he was fine.

I would just watch for if he is unsettled (more than usual) or drowsy (more than usual) pretty much anything that is out of character. And don't forget to breath (for yourself) no doubt you will be up all night watching him sleep & listening to him breath. I still feel guilty about him falling but that is life & you don't need people to lecture you about what could have been. You will learn from this (and every other experience) and be a better parent because of it.

We all know what can happen when you have a baby but no one can understand life as a mummy or daddy until you have lived it.

Hope everything is great for you. Take care :)

  6. Take him to be looked at for sure.  Hes still really young and cant tell you where he hurts.  He could have a bleed and you would never know til it was too late.  Better to be safe then sorry.  just a ?, but why was your baby in a position to fall off the bed anyway?  MIight want to rethink leaving him in a place he can roll off of!!  Good luck

  7. My advisce would be send him to physician for further examination. At least you will feel alright if the outcome is that ur baby is alright. please don't assume as assumption wouldn't help... This is not the mathematics sort of thing. All the best!

  8. Yes, I believe your baby sounds fine by what you've said.  My son rolled off the couch when he was 2 weeks old and I was devastated. I was sure something was going to be wrong with him, but he only cried for awhile and then he was fine.  He fell face down on his stomach so I think it just knocked the wind out of him.  Its just important to check everything and watch them closely afterword to see if there are any changes in them, which I see you have done.  So I think your just fine.  Also I've told other people this and they say the same exact thing happened to them so it's not uncommon.  But never assume everything's ok. Just use your motherly instinct.

  9. I would just watch him. If hes acting normal then theres really nothing a dr. is going to say or can do. Being his mother, you know if his personality is normal for him or not... a dr. is just going to poke him a few times and send him home.

  10. A few inches off the floor?  What do you sleep on a comforter?

I don't know any bed that is that low, I would get him checked out

  11. watch him closely for the next few hours, and keep him up. He might have suffered a concussion, and you'd never know. Bring him to a chiropractor for an adjustment, at best, or to the ER to be sure there was no concussion.

  12. If concerned take him to the Doc but having said that babies are really tough and as there bones are still quite soft its difficult to break. If he is happy and eating and drinking and not overally tired or crynig uncontrollably then its most likely that he is fine,

  13. Your bed is only a few inches off the floor?

I wouldn't assume he's fine.  I would at the very least call the doctor.

  14. omg watch ur kid! thats how my cousins baby died!!!!!!!!
