My 3 month old baby often uses her left hand?

she grabs her toy with her left hand but i never saw her using her left hand,but i see her sucking her left hand.why is this? i just thought she might be left handed or i may need to practice her left hand to grab the toy.mom out there did you encouter with your baby? thanks in advance

  1. It's very common for babies to use both hands or even prefer to use one or the other, even if they will not later in life use that hand as the dominant one. There is no way to tell at 3 months old. You will have a better idea of which hand is dominant when she becomes a toddler. Don't force or encourage her to use only a certain hand. This can cause seizures (no, I am not full of it).


  2. It really doesn't mean anything in relation to hand dominance yet. They don't typically show hand dominance until three or so.


  3. This is normal behavior. They will be periods where they will use certain hands for certain tasks and one hand more then the other and the hand preference will change on/off through the first 2 years. There hand dominance will come around age 3.

  4. Most likely she's left handed.  Just let her choose what hand she's comfortable with.  Don't push one hand over the other, let her figure it out herself.
