Every few weeks she can't p**p. She is healthy and we make sure she has a good diet. She is on her second cup of apple juice cause the first one we gave her around lunch time hasn't done what apple juice does best. What else can we do?

  1. Grape juice works a lot better than apple juice, maybe try some of that. The only other thing I can think of is to add a little more fiber to her diet, so it doesn't continue to be a problem.

  2. Prune juice.

  3. Cheerios! Grape juice, raisins.  Make sure she is drinking lots of water.  Not too much bread and cheese.  Softer meats like chicken and fish.  Spaghetti.  Avoid that pizza (smile).  Fruit and vegys.  Lot's of exercise.  Good luck!

  4. I know for a fact that when I have applejuice I have trouble keeping bowels in, not out. lol!!

In terms of the BRAT diet, only really the B and R are "binders" (will cause more constipation).  The purpose of the BRAT diet is to be easy to digest so that the stomach can properly right itself.

Peach nectar juice is a great alternative to prune juice.  And try upping the amount of INSOLUBLE FIBER in her diet.  Insoluble fiber is the type that will help soften stool.  Some foods with high insoluble fiber are: plums (the skin in particular), celery, green beans, seeds & nuts, etc.  Plums contain both forms of fiber and are nice and fun for little ones to eat :)

  5. My little girl is the same way and the problem seems to come back when ever she hits a growth mark. the doctor gave us some powdered meds that you mix in with the juice and works like a charm... when we notice that she is starting to get a little harder stool then we up the juice because it causes it to loosen.  I hope this helps.

  6. Apple juice will cause constipation. Remember the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Apple(sauce), Toast) - those items constipate people.

Reduce meats & processed foods, increase veggies and raw fruits and maybe try some prune juice once and a while (it may taste nasty to adults but it's sweet to kids).

  7. I don't think apple juice is the answer, more fruits and vegetables, cereals, everyday.

Apple juice is empty carbohydrates with very little nutritional value other than tasting good.

  8. My nephew had a lot of trouble with this, and the solution to his problem was yogurt everyday. It has something to do with the live cultures and how they affect digestion. It's worth a try, if nothing else is working.

  9. Oh my gosh my son was like this. If raisins were ever good for anything they are best for poopies! Promise....even the dried fruit mixed berries work good. Rasins are the magical elixr.
