My 3 year old is coughing...any suggestions?

I have a humidifier going, rubbed her down with vicks sab, gave her mucinex for children, and have her sleeping with her head propped up. I think it is from being in the swimming pool all last weekend. Any other suggestions to help her feel better and sleep well?

Hi there! I have been through some coughing spells with my three year old daughter! Keep humidifier running but make sure the water is changed frequently. Don't run it 24 hours in the same room. you don't want to create any mold in the room. Make sure to wipe down the windows in the morning.  As far as propping her up it is best way to prop up the bottom of the headboard legs about 4-6 inches use books. It's better not to use pillows to prop because then the child is bent making it harder for the congestion to be coughed up. I have never used mucinex for my daughter . Only 1/2 tsp of Robutussin expect plus/ suppressant.  Heres the key I think!!!!!! I was told to rub viks in real good on just the bottom of there feet (at night) and put socks on them!!!!! It is one of those old natural remmedies. It really worked for us! The first time I tried it i wasnt sure it was working because She had allready been coughing for a while but it has worked for us every time since. I put it on her right before bed!!!  This is suppose to draw any infection or bacteria out of there little bodies! I hope it works for you!!!

Wow!  Sounds like you've covered all your bases.  You've done everything I would have done.  The only additional thing I could think of would maybe be a warm bath.  If the cough continues, I would take her to the doctor.
