Wow, I'm not sure how to ask this question. I am 100% serious about this and not sure what to do. My 3 year old son humps things. It's mostly at night before bedtime. He's been doing this since he was about 6 months old. The pediatrician told me not to make a big deal out of it, so I try not to. But it's inappropriate behavior when we have company or when we're out somewhere else. I try to make him go to his room, but he just comes back out or throws temper tantrums. I don't know what to do! Has anybody else had this experience? If so, what did you do about it?

  1. I haven't experienced THAT type of misbehavior, and my heart goes out to you. Any anti-social behavior, including the tantrums  should be dealt with by saying "obviously you're not feeling well" and isolation in his room for 3 minutes. After the 3 minutes, "are you feeling better now?" if no, 3 more minutes. Make your son responsible for his own actions. The gift that will last a lifetime. Remain unemotional while enforcing the consequences. It's his BEHAVIOR that's bad...NOT HIM.
