Mind you, his body is not swollen, so it's not dropsy. His eyes are symetrical and clear, but bulging out. His underside is slightly sunken inward, but he is a male anyway. Males are supposedly slimmer than females. Also, I feed him every other day on pellets, bloodworms, etc. Other than that, he's healthy, active, alert, highly aggressive and has a good appetite. So, what's up with the bulging eyes?

  1. I would say he has popeye. And if you don't treat as soon as possible the disease can be deadly. I have had a fish with popeye before and I used maracyn plus to treat the tank. Unfortunately I got the one fish too late, but non of the other fish had gotten the disease.

  2. Sounds like Popeye Disease. It can be very serious if not treated promptly. Serious as in one or both eyes may fall out.

I would treat with Maracyn or Maracyn 2 (which you can find at your local petstore) immediately though it may be too late to do anything now.
