My 3 yr old son thinks he was my mum?

hi, i am 22 and a mum of a 3 yr old, kayden. And a 11 week old, ashton.

Recently kayden has been havind very vivid dreams, and sleep walking etc.

for the past 2 days, he keeps telling me, that he used to be my mummy, and that i was a boy.

Also something to do with a rounabout, and a man in a car!!

He is very adament about it. And if i try and say it's not true, he gets upset.

He talks about it alot, and seems very concerned about this roundabout and the man, that he was a nasty man. And i was a little boy. He says my name was luke!

I am finding this very, well, weird!!

He does not lie, and is always honest even if it means he gets shouted at, and is only jst 3.

Could it be just his imagination, Though he seems totally convinced it's real.

His dreams are usually about this roundabout and car, and he wakes up crying, shouting ' no, wait, luke its ok help'

I do not know what to say to him, do i dismiss it, or ask him about it etc???

Thanks for any answers in advance

  1. There are recorded cases of young children remembering past lives, but most of them occur in India or in other cultures where the idea of reincarnation is more acceptable.

Record what your child says and get as many details as possible so that you can possibly check out the story.  If there was a car, the event, if it happened, couldn't have been too far in the past.

  2. hi , first up, wow . .am so interested in this question that you should keep me updated , ,

    mail id : fcuk_cares@yahoo.com

secondly, am from India and there was this case i read about wherein a small boy, 3-4, cried for days together saying he was from another place & started speaking a foreign language & finally they went to that placed & enquired and to their horror the parents of the boy found out that a long time back a boy like that had lived there and noone had any wherabouts about him n stuff . .

thirdly, do you do drugs like LSD, Magic Mushrooms ?

'cos after a certain dose they stay on in your body for like years together and might be there in the Kaydens system too . .

if u dont do, then for ur info, these drugs are d**n powerful and can even convince an adult that they are someone else or that they are dead n other vivid visualizations . .

good luck, keep me posted pls !

  3. Please, don't discourage him.  Ask him more details, names, date, location of roundabout.   Maybe it's his imagination but maybe not.  I recommend and agree with hypnotherapy (past life regression).  Also, author Dr. Brian Weiss has a series of books that discuss past life regression. Consider reading his book, Many Lives, Many Masters.   www.brianweiss.com/

  4. Hey! I'm the one who asked you to post this question over here. Sorry you got some bad answers so far..but I think those are from the General Category people. The people from paranormal will be on tomorrow and hopefully they can give you some better answers. I think this is very interesting. I remember hearing about Bridey Murphy way back. My mother was interested in what happened to her. She must have had an interest in the paranormal..That's probably why I do too.  I don't see how he could have made up all this...unless he's had experiences in life concerning a roundabout  etc. I doubt he'd wake up crying and shouting just for "show". Thanks for posting this question on this section too.

Edit.. Try to have him draw pictures of what & who he sees in his mind.

  5. go to a hypnotist and see if theres any truth in what he says.

  6. vivid imagination i would have thought, though i watched a programme a while ago about a little boy who convinced his mother that he and they had lived before, and he took them to the place where he believed they had once lived a hundred years before, he got almost everything right about the place, he had described the cottage and where it was which was a long way from where they lived. There was no way he could have known about it, partly because of his age and partly because of the remoteness of the cottage, it was on an island that none of them had visited. Really interesting story and one wonders sometimes whether reincarnation does happen.

  7. children love to play games .He is just playing roles reversing game with you

  8. I think it's totally possibe that he's been reincarnated. Children are very susseptable to paranormal things, and I think it's a pity that adults pass it off as imagination, or what not........sometimes placing or leacing a child in a dangerous situation ie (ghosts, alian abductions, or even demons).

I don't think your 3 year old child is making this up. It sounds serious to me. I would ask him where this took place (country and city) and try to check into it.

But if you think about it, it makes sense- he was your mother and you were a little boy nammed Luke (who obviously go kidnapped and killed by the horrible man.) You die, and you're born again while your mother keeps living.......

You grow up and have children- while your mother from your past life dies, and is SO traumatized by the events that took place that she is born again as your little boy.....because her soul so desperately wonder about what happened to you and wanted to know that you were alright.

It IS weird, but it makes sense. I wouldn't take him in for hypnosis-I think it could tweek with a kids brain too easily, but I would do some investigating myself. This is one of the most interesting things I've come across so far. Please keep me posted. And good luck.

  9. Young children have got a lot of imagination, and it´s good, don´t worry about it.Just don´t give it much importance. My friend´s son had similar dreams and they went to the doctor´s because it was worrying them. They told them it was because he is very imaginative. At their age they are not completely sure about reality yet. They have to develop their minds.About 5-6 years old it is when they start knowing what´s real and what´s not (like monsters etc).So I wouldn´t worry yet...just take it as a game. When he gets older he´ll start realising dreams are not real live.Meanwhile, just tell him he is having dreams...try to change subject if he gets upset thinking it´s real.

Good luck...but do not worry...he is very young and imaginative.

Please do not think it´s past time regression or anything like this (please!).Don´t cause the kid a trauma...let time pass. There´s no need to get into this things...he´s just 3,please!

  10. do you realise you have asked this question 3 times now? lol

  11. In the US that has a very materialistic science (souls can't be measured so they don't exist) basis and religious traditions that don't accept (after they edited it out) reincarnation most parents dismiss this as imagination.

However, other cultures like India where the religious faith very much embraces reincarnation encourages their children to share their knowledge because it usually disappears very soon (almost always completely by 7 or 9 years of age).

This is why it has been studied among children (also children don't have a lifetime of regular memories to confuse with past lives) in these cultures.

The University of Virginia Medical school continues to study this issue although the acknowledged pioneer scientist Ian Stevenson who started the studies is now deceased. (link below)

How you choose to address this issue with your child is completely up to you.

  12. your son is crazy.

  13. definitely sounds real to me i would encourage him to tell you the story write it down read Brian Weiss very interesting It made me believe in reincarnation and that we are reincarnated with same souls so that would go with what your son is saying

  14. there are several things that you should do.  the first is yes, you should ask him about it.  then you might want to see if he walks on his toes as this may indicate ADHD or Add

Anything is possible is this world we share. Its interesting how he talks about a luke and a car accident? 3 year olds dont have a huge amount of imagination such as this? you would know if you have subjected your child to adult TV or talked to him about life after death.

Has your mother crossed over? Is there an instance or a sugestion of a luke in your family? Can you talk to older relatives?

I have read a lot about reincarnation and after death communication and I have concluded that anything is possible. I myself have been contacted by my father and have seen spirits and so has my son.

I bought this house and it had two bed rooms in it. I put my son in one which I knew was the old lady's room and I had the other one. When he was two he raced into my room wide awake and scared and told me there was a grandma in his room. I can only think he was telling me there was an old lady in his room. I saw her too and she looked like the son who sold me the house.

Don't dismiss it I think he is having memories. So just ask him who's luke. ask him about the mummy. Tell him not to be scraed and you believe him. Ask him about the bad man and the roundabout.

Above are some links to stories from everyday common people who have had expriences with these type of situations

  16. Dreams *are* real, as far as the brain is concerned.  It just takes some time for us to draw the line between reality and dreams.  Your 3 year old is unaware of the distinction as of yet, but will eventually get the hang of it, as we all have.

Although you don't want to stifle your child's imagination, you are going to find yourself in trouble if you put too much weight in your child's dreams.

P.S. Hypnotherapy and past life regression are complete nonsense.

  17. can you stop asking, we all see it, just wait a few weeks.

  18. My daughter used to say "when I was a cat" and "when I was a boy" I have asked about it since, now she is 7, and she just thinks she was pretending, and liked the reaction.
