My '03 CRV cd player stopped. I removed the fuse - then entered the code. Radio and cassette work ... not cd.

Question

I have an '03 Honda CRV. It has a 6 cd player / cassette and radio. I took a cd out and tried to put another in slot 5. It froze. I removed the cd. I called Honda dealership ... who didn't know anymore than me. I googled and found that I should disconnect fuse, then put in code found in my glove box. After that, the radio and cassette player work, but the cd player is still messed up. After playing with it, I got a cd to play but when I tried to put one in the number 5 spot, I got err again! Sometimes ... if I keep taking the fuse out and putting it back, I get "loading" on the cd screen. But, it doesn't load, it won't play, I was told it would cost $500 to fix. Can anyone help?

Laser is shot.  Either get aftermarket one or buy another stock one off of ebay

Try a local stereo repair shop rather than the dealer. Cost to repair this should be $200-300.

And it's not the laser.
