Question:

My '96 Toyota Corolla Making Odd Noises?

It only happens in the front two wheels, and it only happens when I slow down, turn, or accelerate after being slow. It's a weird high-pitched squeak that sounds like (this will sound odd) "wah-wah-wah-wah-wah", and it's synchonized with how fast or slow I'm going, (slow = "wah-waah-waaah-waaaah-STOP", or fast = "waaah-waaah-waah-wah-wah-wa-wa-wa-fade.... I heard it means I need new brakes or drums or rotors or something.. I dunno. Help! All I know how to do is to drive the d**n things, not fix them!

  1. Yes it seems as though your brakes are worn and if it starts squeaking sharp noises you might be scratching your disks. And a sign of the car shaking is usually the wheel alignment and in your case the brakes too. You may need to machine the disks and fit new pads as well as taking your vehicle for a wheel alignment. See how it goes from there. Good Luck

  2. GET THIS FIXED!! Car go forward but they ALWAYS NEED TO STOP. Seriously, safety is one area you shouldn't slack on.

Also, DO NOT rely on your emergency brake to stop you. It's only for emergencies and if you keep cranking on it the wire that connects the handle to the brakes with BREAK!

  3. sounds like you have a loose or warped caliper how old are your brakes?

  4. It sound's it is your brake's, if the noise go's a way by applying the brake pedal while the car is moving then it means your brake's are worn out.

You have to inspect your caliper too, it might be sticky(the piston wont go back) so the brake pad will be touching the rotor.

    good luck
