My 3month old baby has poor appetite. any suggestions? ?

i read from previous answers that babies should be fed based on their demand but i worry that she is not getting enough nutrients. she never finishes the amount of milk required for her age. I'm thinking maybe that's the reason she is underweight. any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks!

How much is she taking?  How much does she weigh? How much has she gained since birth?  Does she seem to be in pain or unhappy, or just not very hungry?  

All babies are different, and you may just have a normally petite baby with a small appetite.  But without more details, it's impossible to knw.

EDIT:  So, her weight gain (about 5 pounds in 3 months) is fine. It's just slightly below the 'average' of about 2 pounds a month.  She was small as a newborn, so you can expect her to continue to be on the lower end of the charts.

And try to get away from thinking of 'doses' of food.  Feed her when she's hungry and let her eat what she needs/wants.   If she doesn't want 4 ounces at a time, try offering 3 ounces, and offer more often.  She might do better and be happier with 8 feeds of 3 ounces (24 ounces -- just about right for a 10 pound baby), than with 5 larger feeds.  She has a tiny tummy and can't hold much at one time.

Feeding issues are a constant concern with kids! My little girl has gone up and down and I have learned that babies will eat when they are hungry. If she's eating only 3-4 ounces and isn't fussy or hungry an hour later, I'd say she's eating until she's full. I would toss out any charts that tell you how much your baby " should" eat. It sounds to me like you're doing everything right!

I would suggest just asking your pediatrician. Every baby is different, if she is putting on weight then i wouldn't worry. They go through thier phases too.
