One morning my TV was smoking. We have not used it since. This was about 2 months ago. My son did turn it on once since then for approx 5 seconds, and it did have picture. I am wondering if it ok to use, or if we should just trash it? I don't want to use it just because it gets a picture and then have it catch fire. The TV is only 3 years old.

Thanks!

  1. I wouldn't especially if you have kids that watch television, or your couch is within a 5ft radius of the television. Please consider this, i dont want anyone to get hurt.

Hope this helps~Leila (please rate me!)

  2. this happened to me before, while the tv was on i sprayed windex and it shut off. when i went to turn it on, it started to smoke so i turned it off. a few months later i went back to turn it on and it worked so i just kept using it, leery at first but eventually got over it.

if you are worried, just make sure that when it is on/plugged in, an adult is in the room. it is good that you don't want to endanger your household, but try it out. good luck.

  3. It shouldn't be smoking under any circumstance, but 3 years old is way too young to already be smoking.

I blame it on the lax standards that we have for marketing cigarettes that gets the kids hooked early.

  4. A smoking electrical appliance is NEVER a good sign.  My fears would be the same as your it may catch fire.  I would either have someone look at it for repair or trash it.
