We thought we got lucky when there was a chicken pox outbreak at the nursery. Harvey caught it but only had 9 spots over his whole body (other kids were covered). However yesterday we noticed about 4 spots and this morning he is covered. I have heard of people occassionally getting chicken pox twice years apart but never in such a short period of time, could this suggest an imune problem ?

We saw the health visitor who confirmed the spots were the same as 4 weeks ago. The doctor confirmed it was chicken pox on both occassions. He said he as known children to get it twice when they have only had a mild dose on the first occassion but usually a few years apart (and even then this is quite rare). He said although very unusal he doesn't think it is anything to be unduly worried about. "its just one of them that you cannot really explain".

  1. yes. it is impossible to get chicken pox twice.

this may be small pox. or something else/

    see ur docter/

  2. My daughter is two, she just had the chicken pox. Im 26 , I had them like your son when I was 8 .. A very mild case.... Well It is possible to get them again.. because I did and it was way worse this time.

  3. I would get him to the doctors straight away....you cannot get Chicken pox twice...Adults get "Shingles" which is similar to Chicken pox. Now I don't wish to alarm you but Shingles can be deadly...really. I don't think he will have that but I wouldn't even phone the Doctors, just get him down their FAST! Hope he recovers quickly, good luck.

  4. Wow thats strange, my son recently had them too a few months ago and he was covered in them, they were in his belly button up his nose, in between his toes it was bad!!

I had just assumed that once they had them they didnt get them again but i guess your sons case was so mild that  he did catch them again!!

poor little thing, its bad enough going through it once let alone twice at such a young age!!

Hopefully your son wont catch them again, but on the plus side at least hes had them early!! i remember having them at 8 and all i did was pick and scratch and i have scars now all over me!!

Good luck, I wish you all the best!!

    take care x*x

  5. If your not sure, try phoning NHS Direct, they should be able to help you.

  6. My friends daughter had a very similar incident a couple of months ago. She had a mild case of pox lasting 1-2 weeks. They cleared up then returned a couple of weeks later.

Eventually they cleared up and she is now fine.
