  1. If it continues, I think you should take him back to the doctor and let her/him know what's going on.

It isn't good for babies to have a CT scan at that age but if it is necessary they will do one. If he doesn't have any hematomas he's probably fine...just a little shaken up and nervous! My son also fell off the bed at a young age and is perfectly fine.

  2. Take him to his pediatrician. It sounds like you got the standard advice in head bump situations, and right now is the time that you should contact his pediatrician and tell him/her what's going on. My son suffered a bump to the head when he was 3 months old (not in the same way, though) and when I called his pediatrician the nurse told me to just keep an eye on him and let them know if he started acting strange at all, including lots of fussiness. Giving him Tylenol is probably a good idea, because even if he suffered a bad bump (not a harmful one, just a painful one) to the head he is probably fussing out of pain. It'll help reduce any swelling as well. As to anything else you can do it depends on the situation (any bleeding wounds? bumps? bruises?).

And try not to worry too much. Babies are a lot tougher than we tend to give them credit for. Their heads survive being squished and crushed during their birth. And there is a lot of truth to the saying that kids are made of rubber. A lot of their bones aren't actually hardened yet. This not only makes it easier for them to grow but it also serves as a form of protection for them and the bumps and bruises that come along with learning to be a civilized adult. :)

  3. Call your pediatrician.  He/she knows your child's history and may give you some peace of mind.  Your ped. may have some particular insight, may send you back to er or may tell you he's just fine.  Good luck... I have lots off nieces and nephews...all of whom have had their bumps and bruises along the way (a few have fallen off beds) and they are all just fine.  :)

  4. i dont understand the first part of your question. your baby fell? i would go to another er. each doctor is different, some care and some dont.

  5. They do have skeletal surveys.  From what I understand, its quite a bit of radiation though so your doc may not agree. They typically do them in child abuse cases. Its where they take az xray of every bone in the body to make sure there are no fractures. They also have bone scans. They inject the child with a radiant dye and then run them through a machine that reads where the dye has "landed" the dye is attracted to an imperfection in the bone to show fractures.  Again these are extreme ways to see broken bones, if any, but mainly these are used in child abuse cases.

  6. this is just the hard lesson to learn about not leaving your child in an unsafe place when you cant hold them

  7. well i dont know. but i think that if he does keep crying and seems more fussy, call the doctor or take him straight to the ER!

    good luck!
