My 4 month old is only happy with Mom.

Question

Hi everyone I have a concern. I have a beautiful 4 month old baby girl, She is the love of my life! My wife works nights and I am a stay at home dad my problem is My little girl is only happy when her mother is around. I want to be a good father, and I am so scared my baby hates me, or thinks I am keeping her mother from her.

My wife works from 11 pm to 7am, Then sleeps until 12 noon.

During this time my girl is so upset screaming and crying, as soon as mom gets up she stops and is happy as can be. What do I do.

And yes I play with her talk to her sing to her read to her.

Nothing I do makes he happy.

I sometimes just cry because I feel like an awful dad.

its a mom thing. my 3 month old LOVES his daddy but its because of his voice. when he hears it my son gets real quiet. try changing your tone of voice. bonding more at feeding and bath time.. play certain games only you and her play. let mom know thats your bonding games. hope this helps!

babies cant hate you just need to spend more time with your girl and she will also grow more attached to you like she has done with her mother

Maybe she is picking up on your despair. It sounds to me like you are a fantastic father. Babies are naturally closer to their mothers at first so don't feel like you are doing anything wrong. Try taking her for a walk when she gets upset. Also try spending time with your wife and your baby together so your baby understands the concept of Daddy being there with Mummy as well. Soon she will a Daddy's girl and your wife wont get a look in!

try skin to skin contact... while your feeding her lie her on your chest, this really helped my baby bond with her daddy (and then she would only fall asleep on him)

She might be able to sense her mummy sleeping near her so she is confuse try taking her for a walk.

gee, that must be heartbreaking for you... I sometimes feel that my daughter ( 3 months) hates me & she is always so happy to see her daddy....... But they just have there days,... Maybe she just misses her mummy when she is not there... I dont think she hates you
