My 4 year old Canon

My 4 year old Canon Powershot A75 has suddenly quit taking pictures. The LCD has purple horizontal streaks that flucuate. The Menu, etc. still function. The camera has not been dropped. Several sources have told me I need a new camera because repair would be expensive. Is this correct?Paul Sandstrom at <paulmark@charter.net>
