I need tips on grabbing attention of my 4 year kid... The strange thing is he comes out with all those things we have taught him but when he wants to... not when we ask him or while teaching...It so irritating and annoying when u teach him and he is paying no attention.. I scolded him once or twice and then have given up.. coz after that mistake of mines he is not ready to sit with me to study. I have tried tobe friendly with him and telling him things.. but all useless...

I felt so bad when teachers told me that at times he looks very lethargic.... he does not listen in class... complains that he most often do what he want to... story time he sits for maximum 2 mins and then leaves his seat and stroll around...

He gets scared when he sees loads of worksheet or big pictures to color.. and then starts his excuses...

My Kid is very bright when I see him with other kids of his age and a year older to him... he is very friendly and speaks with everyone... inviting them to his place..even to a stranger....he shares things and from the age of 3 he remembers all the routes we often goes, he is friendly with most of the electronic equipments and even dial two-three no's on mobile...he know all the names of cars running on road...

Ask lots of questions apart from studies...

He ignores and gives impression of knowing things.. and to be frank.. he knows it when you ask him.... after a week or so... at that time he is blank.... trying to divert you...

Please anyone can help me on this...

  1. Its time to see the DR. You kid might have add or adhd. I bet he is a very smart kid. Most kids with add or adhd have IQs in the 140s

  2. Please donot mind but what do you want him to do?

He is just of 4 years. Let him enjoy. please do not force him to study.

If he wants to play teach him things in a more enjoyable form instead of asking him to sit and study, you too play with him

and try to give him some knowledge that way. As his brain is very sharp he would be able to retain more things when it is taught

in a manner that he likes. Donot make him book worm.

Upto class 10 donot worry much about his study habits as long as he clears all subjects and has basic knowledge that is required

most of the kids waste time and energy studying about things they would never use in life. There no use of such education.

Ask his teachers to understand the kid rather than complaining.

The more he asks the more he learns. Do not stop him from questioning.Let him learn to be at one place with time anything forced on him may make him rude and disobedient.Lastly i would say try to Understand your child. Thanks

  3. boy's generally do not do as good in school as girls.........they need more action oriented activities......so id suggest find something thats physical and turn it into a learning game.

boys pay more attention to actions than words. im going through the same thing with my son and he's 2. theres a big age gap i know......but a great deal of similarities.
