Question:

My 4 year old is displaying some emotional stress, not wanting to do things once loved. Also very clingy.?

She is being very clingy to myself and not wanting to do things that she loved doing before, I a,m very confused as to why she may be acting out, and not sure what to do. Also lot's of whining and crying.

  1. she probably scared and something happened sit her down and talk to her . something is on her mind . she scared problem case she clingy . maybe telling her you will always be there and give her a big huge . kids go though alot and if she changed alot something bad probably happened . i hope nothing serious or horrible like ...... well i guess you know what i mean (if not check the news story's are always on ) just talk to her

  2. Four year olds are just beginning to realise there is a big wide and sometimes scary world out there, outside the home. They may have nightmares too and being so young, they may not be able to tell the difference between the nightmare and reality. Lots of hugs and encouragement at this time, talking to them about if they have "bad dreams". Talking with them about scary stuff helps them cope with it. It doesn't make it worse, as some people think. Like my granddaughter told me about a time when she was scared and my response to her was "that was scary wasn't it?" Helps them know you understand and that it's okay, but it's also not the whole story. There's lots of good stuff too. I told my children (and now my grandchildren) to think of beautiful things before they go to sleep - it helps when they go to sleep with a smile on their face.

  3. She's not acting out she is growing up.  She is going from toddler to child and just like going from child to teen only with less drama.  She is whining and crying because part of her wants to stay a baby.  She doesn't want to do the things she used to love because they were "baby" things.
