Thanks for the advice guys.

And for the record tiger tiger, i don't feed my child junk food! She refuses to eat anything that is green, thats all!

She had an appt with the health visitor (Scottish ere!) last week and she is perfect weight and height but It's just got me concerned cos the HV says from her diet she isn't getting enough iron....and she did not suggest I was feeding her junk food tiger tiger!

I'm questionning it basically cos of the media around it (agen maybe thats scotland at the mo) some findings hav suggested they do more harm than good. I had them as a kid and they did me no harm but it's hard to make choices like this when you think you may do more harm than good!

  1. They have gummies flintstone vitamins now for kids. Thats what my kids take and they love them bc they think they are just gummies! If the vitiamins dont work there is a new drink they came out with for kids. It has all the fruit and veggies in it that they might not get everyday. Its called something Harvest by Juicy Juice.

  2. why give multivitamins ? why dont you just give the correct food ! feed her right before she knows what junk food is

  3. Oh yeah! Flintstones gummies. U can also try Pediasure. It is a drink full of the essential vitamins and everything else kids need. It comes in all different flavors(Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry). Kids love it! They have the generic brand for that. It's a lot cheaper. It should be next to the name brand at your local grocerie store.Oh hide veggies in their food too. I have a diet-problem toddler too. Keep going don't give up!  Good luck!

  4. i give my 2yr old and my 3 yr old vitamins under the drs advice.

  5. it would be best to talk to a doctor or phamascist

  6. I give my 3 year old multi vitamins as i have the same problem. Might be best to get the Doctor to check the child out first to rule out any problems. Good Luck

  7. NOOO! unnatural, they can make imbalances worse!

  8. Yeah. It's common. Try the Flintstones gimmes.

  9. Are they well? If so then you probably don't need to supplement them. If they seem to be run down, picking up one thing after another then you could give them a boost with a multivitamin such as Abidec. Speak to your GP or Health visitor if you have any concerns.

tiger tiger, you obviously don't have a clue, some children have eating problems and it's enough to do just to get them to eat anything.

  10. Im in the same boat and since multi vitamins, they are rarely sick. They wont do any harm anyway :)

  11. Yes, give her a vitamin, no matter how hard we try to get them to eat healthy, you can't force it down their throat.

  12. Yes, but consult the pharmacist when you go to buy them.  My son has some multivitamin gummy bears that come in a little pack of 5 and he wolfs them down becuase they look like normal sweets.

  13. Your child may not have a balanced diet but does it mean he/she isn't healthy? Always best to consult with your child's doctor. If he/she agrees with you then he/she will prescribe vitamins that will be best for your child. I believe most vitamins sold in drug stores mostly contained with just sugar. Just because it is labeled as a "vitamin" doesn't make it good. You have to read the ingredients and always consult a professional. Many parents assume vitamins help because their child gains weight or appears to be healthier. A child can be skinny but could be 100% more healthier than a child with more meat on their bones. As long as they fit in their precentile of height/weight they are good enough.

Merely stating my opinions, I am no doctor, not a nutritonist either. I always question my child's doctor, do my research and sometimes just go with my gut feelings.

  14. sure, nothing wrong with it... maybe have her pediatrician recommend a brand

  15. yes i think all kids, regardless of diet, should take a multi-vitamin.  try to stay away from the gummies and gum ball ones though.  centrum makes a kids vitamin, and theres flintstones vitamins.

the best are prescription kids chewables, they have flouride i think as well.

there are many ways to hide veggies in food.

Juicy- juice makes harvest surprise juice which has veggies.  or u can buy a juicer and make your own.  my 2 year old neighbor loves my apple-carrot-pear juice (i use 2 apples, 1 carrot, and 1 pear)

when u make pasta, use a ragu sauce, they make one or several that have vegetables in it.

make a meatloaf and add ground (food processed) veggies to it.

    good luck!!
