  1. "looks like" does not mean it is. And you should not take advice over the internet, especially for a child.

Take her to the doctor to determine what she has and how best to treat it. Don't put anything on it unless a doctor who has seen her says so.

  2. Don't bet that it is cold sores.  It could be Chicken Pox in her mouth, which is the Herpes Zoster virus. She needs to see a doctor.  Do you have any orajel?  It will hurt the first 30 seconds, but after that, she should be ok.  Orajel has lidocaine in it, and that will numb it.

  3. You should take her to your doctor to make sure you know what it is.  It could be cold sores, but it could also be chicken pox or impetigo, common infections with kids.  And the course of treatment is different for each of them.  Get her checked so that you know for sure.

There is no quick treatment for cold sores for adults other than the prescription anti-viral medication called Valtrex.  I don't know if they prescribe that for kids as young as 4.  They may prescribe Zovirax for her, which is an ointment.  Valtrex is a pill.

If it is impetigo the treatment is different, and they probably would prescribe that for her.  It is an anti-fungal ointment.

  4. its better to seek an EENT doctor to know what it causes so that he may give you a drug to treat your child. anyway its reall uncomfortable with you child when she/he ate... dont give salty food and spicy.. just give him/her on soft diet..
