My 5 1/2 year old daughter is complaining that her gum hurts...?

it's painful way back behind the last molar...not excruciating, but has been bothering her for about a day and a half. Tylenol seems to help, as well as baby oragel, but the taste of that makes her gag. The gum itself does look slighly inflamed, but not discolored at all. Could this be a new molar coming in? If so,how long should it take to break the skin? Can a dentist do anything to help (I'm thinking like a small incision to allow for the tooth to erupt less painfully or something...) thanks for your input!

  1. just more teeth

  2. This could be the arrival of her 6 year molars. The dentist could possibly make an incision very similar to the one you were talking about. I would call just to make sure, first. But, unless they are extremely painful, i would see no need in getting that done.

    Good Luck!!
