My 5 in. tv i use in my patio ,will it need some type of tv convertor fome feb 2009 ?

my 5 in portable can it be come an unuseable tv in the future, or only be able to pickup tv sound & fm radio sounds

  1. If you are using it with an antenna then yes, you would need a converter box after 2/17/09.

    However, if the 5" TV doesn't have either a way to attach an external antenna or A/V jacks, there currently isn't any way to connect a converter to it.

    Cost wise the cheapest portables with digital tuners start at $150. Walmart has a 14" digital tuner tube set for ~$115.

    By using a government $40 off coupon, you can get a converter for $10. Practical if your are using AC, not as practical if you are using batteries although it can be done.

    Without a converter, you will no longer be able to pick up TV sound, but it will still be able to receive FM radio.


  2. No you could just buy a converter for it but why would you do that? My advice is just go purchase a new digital one. If I remember correctly that is all that the stores are selling now.

    But if you have it connected to cable then no you should not have to replace it or buy a converter.

      

  3. You will need to have a digital cable box hooked up to this in order to view television.
