  1. i think you should bring him to the vet something might be wrong wit him if hes alright it might just be a stage

  2. Don't worry, he is still young. As he matures, he will learn to be more vocal and will bark to warn you of things when necessary. My dog didn't start barking until around 6-7 months of age. I also did not encourage Barking because I did not want a dog that barked incessantly, only when it was appropriate.

  3. first of all labrador retriver is a sniffer dog ( also known as family dog) not a watch dog or guard dog, so it is very common habits of all labs, but if you want to make him bark on your command then he will need some training what you have to do is irritate him for 5 to 10 minutes daily, and be carefull dont hurt him , some very common techniques are slap on his tail, it wont hurt them but it is quit irritating for dogs, most important note is that before you start you must say him BARK again n again thru out the entire training session (5 to 10 minutes) and when he starts barking praise him give him treat, pat him , The most important note of this training session is you do not have to irritate him only you also have to win yours pet faith, if you do this you yourself will find lots of intresting way to train him .BEST OF LUCK

  4. thats a good thing! my dog wont shut up its drives me crazy. he barks at every aeroplane that goes over my house!

if you actually want him to bark reward him with a treat when he does bark for food and hel get it but really thats a good thing!

  5. You may come to regret having him bark in association with food. Some dogs don't bark much, especially as puppies. Training him to bark is also probably not the best idea unless you can also train him when *not* to bark.

  6. Your dog is too small to bark at strangers or whatever it may be. Let it grow by its own style(way) and you will see how it barks by seeing something strange.

  7. lol :), you want to make him bark when someone rings the door bell? When ever someone rings the doorbell, take your dog to a room and put him on lead and leave him alone and release him when the guest leaves, if you do this everytime the door bell rings your dog will start barking :)... but why do you want him to  bark in the first place? :)

  8. "Walker" never used to bark until he found out that it was a good attention getter when he wanted out. Now he sits in the middle of the living rooms and 'talks' to us constantly.

My wife  taught him to use his inside voice. He speaks to us in a series of low guttural growls and grunts now. He only barks in the house now when it's time for a walk.

Labs are not naturally the most vocal of the dog breeds. They are sight hunting dogs and it is not uncommon for then to not bark all day. Can't be chasing the ducks away with a lot of unnecessary noise, can we.

  9. What should you do?  Dance!  A quiet dog is rare and a treat.

  10. so wuts the big deal my shiba only barks when he plays wich isnt that often hes fine

  11. dogs learn to bark from other dogs just like humans learn to talk from others keep him in the company of other dogs and give him lots of exercise he may  just be lazy

  12. no big deal, don't worry when it would become at least of 10 months it would start barking.you don't need to train him for this reason

  13. I would consider it a blessing. :)

  14. Praise him for being such a well behaved dog!

  15. There are lots of ways to teach your dog to 'speak' to you than actually barking at you, if that's what you're looking for.

I would recommend teaching him to bark for a treat if you want him to have controlled barking, that way to can teach him in turn to NOT bark unless prompted.

Otherwise, enjoy it. Too many dogs out there are uncontrolled barkers!!

  16. My Yellow lab did not start barking until he was almost 1.  Give him time to develope some of his protective instinct.

  17. You'll have to train him to bark... try to make some weird sounds on his back, when he is not looking and ask some family members to prompt him to bark.. He'll definitely respond. Treat him with something he likes when he barks...

  18. Train her to "speak". When she barks tell her "good speak" and give her a small tiny treat.... then tell her "speak" again and praise when she does a good job.

  19. You are very very very lucky. I have a chocolate lab myself he will bark if he has to go outside,if i leave him alone outside, if he is playing, or if somebody comes in the house. It was hard just to make him bark that much! But don't worry your dog is fine. He might bark more when he gets older though. (If he randomly barks at the door it is probably because he sees a bird or a squirrel.
