she's always had some spit up but I would think that at 5 months it would be gone by now. She still has spit up but sometimes its more like throw up and it smells soury and looks like cottage cheese. She also in the last month has started eating less formula, she eats half of what she used to like 2.5 oz every 3 hours. It's like she doesn't want to feed from the bottle anymore, I kinda have to force it. Has this happened to anyone else's baby?

  1. you should be feeding her baby food, not just formula.

  2. Maybe get a can of the gentle formula and see if that helps. I mean, if it is upsetting her tummy. I would talk to your Dr.though~that would be the best way to find out what is going on.

  3. Yes, it happened to my kid, starting at 3 months. Same soury smell, cottage chesse-y, would refuse to eat after.  We took her to the doctor and it turned out she had gastric reflux and she had to be on meds for a year. I would take your child into the doctor as soon as you can.

  4. While most babies stop spitting up by 5 months, many do not.  My son still spits up, though not as frequently, at 10 months.  If it smells sour and looks like cottage cheese, it is just because it has been in her stomach for a longer period of time.  There is a big difference between throwing up and spitting up...when it is really throwing up not only is there a lot more of it, it is forceful.  Has she started on solid foods?  Some babies will decrease the amount of formula they drink if they are getting too much solid food or if they prefer solid food.  She may also have reflux and is avoiding the bottle because it is painful.  I would give your doctor a call.

  5.   she may need to change formulas. maybe to a lactose-free soy formula
