  1. I also have 5 month old twins who spit up.  My baby B is on 3 different reflux meds and had surgery at 3 months for pyloric stenosis.  He still spits up.  We burp every 2 ounces and are upright for 15-30 minutes after every feed and still spits up.  The Dr. said that some degree of spit up is normal.  You will know if it is not- projectile vomiting after every feed or every other feed-loosing the whole bottle- is what he did before surgery.  Good luck!  Two of my neighbors  have twins and they have assured me that the spit up lessens around 6-8 mos.

  2. I think it depends on what you mean by "spitting up". Is it a small amount? Is it after every meal? If it's just a small amount and it's infrequent, then it could be normal. If they're spitting up after every meal, and you feel as though it's a large amount then you may want to talk to your doctor about it. It could be a reflux problem.

  3. My daughter stopped the spitting up around 8 to 9 months old when she was sitting up and standing unassisted. Try and sit the babies up a lot to keep things down. If it is more of a projectile spit up, get them checked for GERD or pyloric stenosis. Pyloric stenosis is more of a concern if they don't gain weight very well. GERD is the same thing as reflux or acid indigestion.

  4. My son spit up a lot too, he stopped when I started burping him more often during feedings. After about every 2 to 4 ounces I would burp him and make sure after feeding he was up right for about 15 min. It completely stopped when I started doing this.
