My 5 year old daughter wants to get her ears pierced. How hard will it be for her/us to take care of them?

It's been over 20 years since I had my ears pierced. You just have to turn them & clean them for the first few weeks right?

I would wait a few more years unless you, yourself will clean and turn them.

if she feels like she can handel  taking care of the earrings and cleaning them  i dont see a problem and now days geting ears pierced is quick and all most painless unlike years ago

My personal opinion is that she's too young for this.  Having said that, make sure that they are pierced by somebody who keeps his/her  instruments in a sterilizer.  That should prevent infection.  I assume that you're going to put in studs afterwards, since they'll close up otherwise.  Periodically remove the studs and swab the ear holes and surrounding area with something like rubbing alcohol.  You'll have to check frequently because you will notice a beginning infection before it causes her pain.

yes, it's easy. They pierce infants ears. I'm sure your 5 yr. old will be o.k.....she's going to be so proud of her earrings ! I'd get little birthstones on gold posts, no hoops.

Don't do it.

If God wanted us to have pierced ears we would of been born with them.

You must not take the earings out for weeks otherwise the hole will heal and you will have to do it again.

exactly right, they are simple, I got mine repeirced a few months back and they said to take them out for about 10 minutes each day, but they should explain it all when you get it done any way.

exactly right and it wont be hard at all. just keep them clean with a solution the peircer gives you or alcohol

You can't take your earings out in the first few weeks.

Until then keep them in. If she is doing a sport and is asked to take them out put a bit of masking tape on top of them.

But they are very very easy to take care of as long as she dosen't forget to put them in after at least a week other wise her holes will close up and her ears will go all yucky.

Its not really that sore, the pain is over before it's started.

It looks nice and if shes thinking about getting it done then she should... its really not sore.
