My 5 year old has always been a picky eater but this past weekend he caught a cough and stopped eating.?

That was Sunday, it now Friday and and he does not want to eat. He always thirsty, he is drinking lots of liquid and he gets upset when I offer him food. He keeps saying he very thirsty. He will take a bite here and there but does not eat like he did a week ago. Is this a stage or is he sick?

give him plenty of fluids.  if you are concerned, call the pediatrician.

He is sick.  You need to call a doctor for him.  He could have a throat infection.  If you are concerned about his lack of food intake you can buy him pediasure.  That will give him the nutrients he is missing.  Good luck!

You are supposed to visit the doctor if a cough persists for more than 5 days.  Take him in.  I wouldn't be too worried at this point about him not eating as he is taking fluids, most people don't want to eat when they are sick.  You do need to take him to the doctor as soon as possible though.

Ummm hes sick. Right now fluids are the best thing for him, and if you are real concerned, take him to the doctor. My granddaughter will not eat anything when she's not feeling well.
