My 5 year old has severe stomach pain and sour stomach. up crying. ?

my son has been constipated for several days now, and tonight he has a sour stomach with it with severe pain. he has finally done the #2, but still has sour stomach and severe pain. what can i do to help. low on medicines.

  1. Sounds like it's most likely to be ongoing constipation (remembering myself at that age).  Give him an e***a - if he's still in pain after clearing out the remaining doodoo, call the doctor ASAP.


  2. Put a warm, moist towel over his distended stomach or belly.

    Do give a small amount of Tylenol or Gravol if you have it, but NEVER Aspirin as it leads to Reye's syndrome, possibly fatal.

    Do not give pink medicines with peptides or bismuth which are anti-diarrheals and constipate further.

    Use a little laxitive such as prune juice, watermelon or blueberries, banana & bran.  Also, water.

    It may be wise to see a doctor in case of appendicitis, that would be lower right side on the child.

  3. If he was constipated (in fact he could still have some packed up) and now has a sour stomach and pains, there is only one answer....

    take him to his doctor.
