Question:

My 5 year old recently developed a stutter... what would cause this?

He just turned 5. For example he will say wha-wha-wha-what and seems to strain and have to try really hard to get his words out. He's saying things really slow when he stutters like that also so it's not like he's stumbling over words because he's speaking too fast. I thought it was because he was trying to sound out letters at first but it's been two weeks and he hasn't stopped. He does it randomly throughout the day. I asked him why he was talking like that and he said, "I'm having a hard time talking." He's never had a speech problem or anything, he actually was always ahead of other kids his age when it came to that. Do you think I should be worried or do you think he's just practicing the sounds the letters make? It's kind of scaring me.

  1. When my cousin was around 3yrs old he developed a stuttering problem,but when he got to 3rd grade his stuttering was gone. But you should go get him checked.
