  1. I read a comment below that suggested a chinchilla, and personally, I don't recommend that for a 5 year old. I'm thirteen and I can't get one because you need to hold them a certain way--they have floating rib cages.

But you could try a guini pig. They small but not too small, and they're soft and very loving animals. You could try these, too:

ferrets--smell really bad and strong ;; love attention and are great for young kids who like to play!

hampsters: they don't need too much attention but will take it when your 5 year old feels like playing with him.

sugar gliders: these things are way cool. I would love one. But some bite, if they're not used to you, but once they warm up to you (which could take up to a couple weeks) they'll be as loyal as a dog. But they're loud, nocturnal, smelly, expensive, and aren't legal in all states.

rabbit: they're very shy creatures, and if you raise them as a baby and bottle/hand feed them, they'll never even dream of biting you--even if they're annoyed.

I think a rabbit or a guinie pig would be best, though.

  2. Rabbit can make good pet if it is fixed that way it dose not bite. They are so sweet and make great friends.

  3. Hamsters and Guinna pigs are nice and you can pet them. Turtles although not as fuzzy, they are pretty low maintenance and are nice to have around. They are quiet and they may not have fur but they like to be pet too.

  4. i wish when i was 5 and wanted something i got it. a bunny. they are not to small, not to big, and most dont bite, soft and sweet. hamsters and mice or  rats are way to small for a 5 year old to handle. if you get one  of them you can expect to see it dead in a week from being dropped.i always had bunnies growing up and still have 5 now.try your local humane society, you  will pay some money for it, but it will likely be fixed and you will be saving its life!

  5. Most bunnies are good and don't bite, I have 2 and they sit calmly with me all the time and are really good with my little niece and nephew ( 2 and 3 ) also. I remember having rabbits when I was a kid too and as long as you get one little enough that you can tame it, or one that is well tamed, they make greta little pets :D

  7. Buy a Sulcata Tortoise. They can get up tp 200 lbs and she can ride on it.

Warning:I read somewhere that they can walk through walls, but that is a good thing if u need another door!lol

  8. LEOPARD GECKO!

The BEST choice for a pet for a young kid!  (Just supervise when playing with the leopard gecko, or any other pet for that matter when she is that young.)  Mine has never bitten me out of agression in his life.  They live 25-30 years so you won't have to worry about her getting traumatized when young from a pet dying.  They are beautiful, exotic, cheap, and a great learning experience.

If you don't want a reptile get a: rabbit, hamster, gerbil, mouse, rat, hedgehog, guinea pig, parakeet, or cockatiel.  All those would be pretty good choices.

You might want to read the answers in case there are any that are different from what you get.

    I answered there also.

    Good luck.

  10. hamster, gueana pig....  dwarf  hamster....

  11. Rats. They are amazing creatures. I had one when I was little. But she has to learn not to hold them when she has cheeto powder on her hands, haha. When my rats did bite, it was for that reason and that reason alone. And it does not hurt at all.

  12. Guinea pigs are the best.  We had 2 that lived for 6yrs, and when they passed we bought  2 more.  They are very vocal and squeak when they want to eat or drink.  One ours even squeaked when we called her name. Also you can  play with them on the floor, they aren't very fast and don't run away. You can even bring them outside, they love to eat grass.  Hoped this helps.

  13. well you might try a chinchilla their kinda boring but their small and if she wants something to pet that won't bite it would be great.

    good luck.
