he really liked him he had him for about 8 months but when i took the piggie to the vet and she died my son didnt act sad. he kinda acted like something strange was happening and he had lots of questions i told him about animal heaven and that he wouldnt see the piggie again but that the piggie loved him. i told him that he would have fun in animal heaven and that he will be ok. was that ok to tell him? i think im more sad than he is.

  1. He's just a little kid. He doesn't understand much. I think you explained it well enough and since he's not acting upset I wouldn't talk about the guinea pig anymore. Chances are he won't remember much.

  2. I think you handled it quite well. By simply answering his questions without long, detailed explanations, he didn't freak out and has accepted that his piggie is somewhere else - still happy.

As he gets older, his questions will change and you can deal with deeper philosophical issues when he brings them up.

Good job on handling a tough issue with kids.

  3. Ok this is what you do.... Since you already gave him "The Talk" Ask him if he wants another guinea pig! He will probably forget about it.

  4. wow 8 months there must be something wrong with that guinea pig? im just wondering how did he(or)she die so fast ?because i got a guinea pie that won't die. i think he's like 10  or 11 years

  5. Get him one that looks just like it and pretend its the same one. HAHAHA!
