  1. Who told you this?  Your child?  I honestly can't imagine a child getting in trouble for not wearing green...sorry.

  2. If this is really what happened, then it's totally wrong.  St. Patrick's day isn't even an official holiday here (I only assume you are in the US).  They can't force anyone to wear green, and certainly can't punish them for this.

But, I have a nagging suspicion in the back of my head that perhaps something more happened.  For example, maybe the teacher asked politely/jokingly whey he was not wearing green and he mouthed off to her about it?  Just a thought...I'd get all sides of the story.

  3. That's not right!!! You should talk to the principal or something.

  4. Calll the principal... if not call the news... then call the principal back and tell him... that oughta make him mad enough to give up.

    thats rediculous

  5. Definitly call the school and complain. thats ridiculous

  6. wow...teacher must of been very crabby

  7. Let the principal know your going to press charges for detaining your son without probable cause, call the police to file a report to inform them they are detaining your son for unrelated school issues and policies.

  8. go to the higher ups. DO something! Cuz that's just nonsense

  9. BS. Is this what your kid told you? I bet it's for something else.

  10. was your son doing something else? Did the school tell you this, or your son? If the school called you and said this.... I would take it to either court, or the local news station.... if your son told you... make sure it's the truth before doing the above.

  11. that's stupid!  call the principal.  do what you think you need to do.

  12. ummm. I think your child is not quite forthcoming in a truthful answer.   I always say my child is guilty before proven innocent.

  13. that is sooo not right

you need to call school and anyone else you can think of

i think the new is a very good idea

  14. First thing I would do is call the local news station. That sort of thing is rediculous and NOTHING is worse than negative media attention. Schools have gone nuts with the authority they can show over other peoples' children.

  15. dont go to the principal cause their prbly the one who issued it. go to the superintendent and get those teachers in TROUBLE

  16. go over there and talk to you school and the whole administration. tell them this is not accapteble and that they did not need to give youre so detion! i would yell and talk about this until i got to the bottom of it

  17. Something tells me this isn't the whole story...

  18. That stupid. It might be St Patrick day but we do have the choice to wear green or not. I would told them that why would they need to wear green. Did they tell you why they doing this. I would do something about it. I would call the school board or say something.

  19. If this is really as simple as it is. I would call the Principal and if they fail to get back to you soon, call the school Superintendant. If you get no results then, I would call the news stations. A school cannot legally do this, and it opens a whole can of worms.

  20. That's not even right...I would check with the school to make sure that was the REAL reason for the detention, and if so you should talk with the principal. If he/she won't listen, take it to the school board or a higher authority.

  21. Are you sure he's not telling you a story?

  22. Call the principle.  If he won't listen, call your local news stations.

  23. Why did your son not wear green?

Does his class regularly have dress certain way days that the class and students are made aware of - (a niece was supposed to wear read one day and  something smooth another day one year). If that is the case and both of you forgot then you need to find out what the penalty would be for not wearing red on the other day.

Did he just not wear green or did he intentionally wear another color to incite people?  And what was his attitude with staff when he was asked?

I use to wear an orange sweater to school on st. Patrick's day when I was in Jr. Hi.  The skirt I wore with it was real Irish Wool and I would wear Comamera Mable necklace that I had gotten on a family trip to Ireland so I would point out that I was not disrespecting the Irish but honoring my own ancestry which is almost all British with small amounts of Dutch, Scot, and German.

Even today I have on a coral blouse (and green shoes).

  24. If the principle doesn't do anything, approach the superintendent and the school board. Demand they take it off of his record and make it up to him in some way.

They cannot punish a child for choosing not to participate in something like St. Patrick's Day. it's ludicrous.

  25. thats so unfair tell the school and talk with the principle it is stupid to give a child a detention for not wearing green to school.

  26. That is just wrong! Go and carefully voice your dissatisfaction and ask for their valid reason for treating him so badly - take your husband also to show that it is a serious issue to your family.

But wait! - are you sure that your son isn't fibbing to you?

  27. pull him out of the school. In my first elementry school, they put me in ESL classes and I didn't speak spanish. They put me in there for the money, so my parents pulled me out.

  28. What kind of school does your child goes to?Go talk to the administration to see if it was required to wear green today if not I suggest you go to the newspaper or tv.Hope this helps.

  29. I would contact the school and let them know that your son shouldnt be held responsible for not wearing green, and that it was your desicion for him not to wear it or not.. (well that depending on the age). I'd go over there, put a flippin green sticker on him and say there.. he is wearing green!

But yeah that wasnt good for the school to do that, I would defenatly go down there and speak your mind, and demand that they take him out because they are taking away from his schooling.

  30. Thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard someone getting a detention for. Obviously thats no reason for your child to get a detention. Call the principal and ask him why your son is getting a detention, and then call into your local news  to embarrass the school.

  31. DEF GO TALK TO THE PRINCIPAL AND SCHOOL.

    That's ridiculous.

This year actually was tough year.

My younger brother was having trouble with his asst. principals- they are all idiots.

They gave him  detention without telling my mother and were going to suspend him without notifying her either. They call it advanced discipline. I called it bull, right to them too.

Where have all the good educators gone?

    SRSLY.

I had to go in with my mom and miss a class.

OH BOY DID I GIVE THEM A PIECE OF MY MIND.
