  1. it happens.

be as patient as possible and study hard.

  2. Please remember that when we were young we had a hard time too. When ypu child comes home from school just help that child, and also do up a chart and place it on his/her door and have the child learn them one by one.And parents give your children time to learn they will catch on sooner than later.

  3. Talk to the teachers for some one on one help or work on it at home

  4. Some children just need more time.  Children learn to walk at a wide range of ages, and they learn their letters and learn to read at an even wider age range.

Here are some activities that may help:

If the school pushes him to hard or attempts to label him or send him to special ed, you may want to consider homeschooling.

  5. You need to get some flash cards and anytime you see a letter ask him what it is. Write them down and sing the ABC song with him. He will catch on it just takes time and patience

  6. When my son was that age we practiced everywhere we went. On street signs, stores, billboards, housenumbers, etc. In the grocery store he had to help me find lowest prices, different products. And at home we had lots of books to practice with.

  7. I found music helps some children with learning. Anything you can expose your child to with music seems to help with recall.

  8. yOU SHOULD LOOK INTO A PARENT /TEACHER PROGRAM i HAVE IT FOR MY FOUR YEAR OLD , BECASUE SHE IS ALSO HAVING TROUBLE. tHEY SAID A GOOD THING TO DO, IS MAKE COLORFUL FLASH CARDS AND STUDY ABOUT 1 HALF HOUR A DAY. BUT MAKE SURE WHEN YOU ARE PRACTICING WITH HIM , IT IS A TIME THAT HE IS NOT TIRED OR TO ENERGETICK. mY DAUGHTER IS OMPATIENT AND SHE IS ABOVE HER LEVEL, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO SOMETHING SHE CANT FIGURE OUT THE FIRST TIME SHE GETS AGGERVATED AND GIVES UP.

  9. That's where you come in. Everyone knows, from high school to college, "flash cards".. Your son in young, and he and you have lots of time, to do this everyday. Use 3x5 cards make one side a letter, and the other side a easy word for him that goes with the letter. You can do the same thing with numbers. Example the number six can be, six bunnies, the number 5 can be five mice. You can choose anything that will get his little brain going to remember. You can also choose songs, that has numbers and letter in them, that can help as well.

  10. ask a teacher if they could tutor the kid

  11. I just did this activity with one of my four year olds in preschool - he is having trouble retaining and identifying his numbers.  He helped me pick out a picture in my clip art - we were looking for a monster truck and couldn't find one, so he chose a dump truck.  Together, we made a book with the first page with 1 dump truck - it has the number at the bottom and one dump truck at the top - the second page has the number 2 at the bottom and two dump trucks at the top - and so on up to the number 10.   This way, I can fold the book in half, have him identify the number, if he says he doesn't know, I can unfold the book and he can count the trucks to figure it out.I am really hoping that this will work for him.  He's just more into play and the parents are freaking out that he's not up to par with where his sister was at that age. I tried to explain that we cannot compare them - they are both individuals and he will learn when he is ready but they already feel he has learning disabilities.  so, making something he is already interested in and have him help you make it so he feels like he is a part of the entire project. I hope this idea helps you -I hope it helps me too!

  12. Discover what letters he knows by looking at print everywhere you go. Then using the same idea, work on letters he doesn't know. Make it a game. When you go to the store, have him help you "read" the grocery list, then help find the item. As you are driving, play I spy, "I spy the letter P at the pet store". You can do the same with numbers. Have him help you figure out the prices of items. Get a ruler out, and measure things and talk about the numbers. This activity will help him realize that 6 is bigger than 2, etc.

Making it a game will make him want to participate. If it is work, he might shy away. I have been a preschool teacher for 6 years. I use this technique with my 2 1/2 year old and she knows 8 letters already. Trust me, it works. Good luck. Just remember, HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!
