My dog has never "marked" someone before and has seen this person a few times, but when she came over, my dog walked over to her (not jumping), lifted his leg and began to pee on her leg. WHAT THE h**l??? Can someone please help with this perplexing situation.

Thanks.

  1. =] as weird as that is, it's normal.

your puppy knows that person and likes her. you know that dogs pee to mark their territory and your puppy wants to mark your friend as "his territory". it's actually a sign of affection.

or course, it is kind or gross and you shouldn't let it continue, but don't be too hard on your puppy either. as it gets older, it will calm down.

  2. LOL WHAT THE HECK?!?!?!?!? hillarious!! but just say "NO" firmly, and show him a better place to do his business.

  3. Haha funny lol

  4. maybe he is marking his territory lol

  5. Hahahahahaha

idk dogs pee. cal your vet

  6. It's a territorial marking thing.

The best product I have seen that will help you with this problem is called Happy Jack Dog Diapers. They work like a charm, and are very well made. Take a look at the testimonials on the website:

    They are good for:

    TERRITORIAL MARKING

    INCONTINENCE

    MEDICAL ISSUES

    EXCITABLE URINATION

    HOUSEBREAKING

  7. That's so funny!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

  8. Usually it means that the dog has no respect for that person.  I wonder what he knows that you don't.

  9. Maybe he's trying to tell you something...listen. Dogs are very astute judges of character! XD!

  10. What kind of puppy do you have? I know Beagles are sometimes notorious for this...

  11. I think it is just that he is marking something that he likes.  I have taken my dog to the pet store before, mind you he weighs 100 lbs, well, we are walking around where the other dogs are, and all I can assume is that he was marking his territory because he peed on my leg in the store.  I couldn't believe it.  He must of been saying, " This is my mama!"

  12. Maybe your friend smells bad. Lol. That's really funny♥

  13. hahaha! he's just a puppy, he'll learn. he was probably excited to see someone new. my dog is 2 years old, and he still pees himself if he gets excited. it's no big deal..

  14. Letting her know her place.  You first, then him, then her.

  15. That is weird. You normally see this outside with fire hydrants. When an animal smells another animals pee they mark it back with theirs. It's also another sign of disobedience. He is being disrespectful. Sometimes they need a disobedience class! and most of the time, they don't even need the entire sessions! it's tough to say not knowing the whole situation.. but very odd to say the least. I would worry more, if the dog starts doing it more than once.

  16. Does she have a dog too? Maybe your dog smelled the other dog and wanted to mark it's territory.

My friend's dog used to pee on us but that was because it was excited , but it never raised it leg to pee.

Those are the only two reasons I can think of.

  17. Time for the old snip.  Yes at 6 months the marking starts and it will often continue until rover is neutered.

  18. usually dogs pee on "stuff" including people to mark their territory. My guess would be that maybe ur friend was around another dog and ur puppy smelled the other dog...thats why she peed on him.

When i used to visit my friend, she has her own dog, and come home, my dog wouldnt stop smelling me...and he tried peeing on me too! But he learned not to, all u need is to train her to obbey, and ull be alright.

  19. punish the dog when it pees on someone or something

  20. It defiantly sounds like a domination thing.  You should have your dog trained so that he understands that you are the Alpha dog and you would not stand for that behavior.

If you have already established that then hes fighting for beta position.  Have your friend try some commands and be in control of the dog (with walks, etc...) so that he knows hes not the boss.

    Good luck!

  21. its ok, nothing is really wrong with ur dog. when dogs do this, they are marking their territory, as to say "hey, i saw this guy first, he is mine". if your dog has seen this person multiple times, he must be comfortable around him, and wants to protect his territory. i would just sternly discipline him if he does it again, this is nothing to freak out about. good luck, and i hope i helped!

  22. He's probably jealous of the attention you pay her, and wanted to let her know he is pissed. Pun intended.LOL

  23. heheheh! poor girl.
