  1. I dont mean to scare you but ADHD could be cause by shots like Austism does it might be better not to get anymore shots.Just help him dont be mean to him ect.By the way bout the shots its a goverment hide up.Someone just won a case because of it.

  2. Remember patience is key. Love them just like anyother child. Keep then busy and help them everyway you can. Drugs are not the only answer.

  3. You might consider a diet change to see if that has any effect. It takes about a month to really see it.

Eliminate all processed foods and anything that you can find that has dyes and other additives. Yep, cook from scratch.   My cousin's son is autistic and there is a clear difference in his hyperactivity level when they reduced his TV/computer use and made a diet change. They have slowly added back some foods, because it was difficult for his mom to cook from scratch all the time, but he is much calmer. As a result, the teacher stopped whining about medicating him.

  4. Remember that she's still a normal kid who just has a condition that makes it hard to focus. Don't let this be an excuse for crappy behavior, and encourage her all the time (she will appreciate it). Drugs are not the answer to all cases.

  5. The newest research shows fish oil having an amazing effect on the brain chemistry that causes ADHD.  Some people just take this now.  Research it online.  And consider using it with the medication or on its own.  If you decide to go or not go with medication, it will help to meet some with a counselor or parent educator to help you better understand your daughter and help you set up an efficient discipline plan because you will need to be more consistent and less emotional with a child with ADHD, and their is a tendency for them to develop poor behavioral habits and later be diagnosed with ODD.

  6. I have two totally different thoughts on this. As a teacher, I love the spirit, the excitement, the Independence, the free thought and the adventure these children have. Believe me,not all teachers feel this way. They will never be bored in their lives! It does cause a lot of hardships for the child during the school years and beyond. Life will be harder for them because,............ not many people can be around them full time, their enthusiasm takes it's toll.

On the other hand, I see them picked on, belittled because they can't sit still, crying and angry because they can't control their own acts. Sometimes, drugs make them happier with themselves, sometimes, they loose their spirit for life. You know your child better than anyone. Sorry, but in the long run you are the only one that can choose between the two. Listen to what your child has to say! What a burden  we parents have.

  7. I have two sons with ADHD.  They are very different though. Find a pediatric Psychiatrist who you are comfortable with.  Don't let other people who don't understand talk you out of medication.  I worried that my son would not be the same on medication, but the opposite was true.  It just opened up a door for him to learn and enjoy life even more.  It is just more of him available.  They both now can live up to the potential we knew was there.  They are so much happier and successful in everything they do.  One warning,  it took several trials of medication that didn't work to find the right one.  That part is not easy, but don't give up, it is so worth it.

  8. Your daughter is an extremely gifted child.  She wont operate like the others.

She probably has sensitivities to things that she ingests.  So, you will have to remove those from her diet so that she can function to her best ability.

Some of those things are gluten, dairy, sugar, artificial ingredients, high fructose corn syrup, and these kinds of things.

She may have a mineral deficiency and a good liquid vitamin and mineral supplement should help.

If you have more questions, let me know what they are.

  9. Patience, and no sugar.

  10. Medicine. Make sure you tell the schools. Get her extra help at school if she is falling behind. But NEVER make her feel different from other kids because she is no ADHD is very common. If you get her on medicine now she might not even need to get extra help. With medicine you can't even tell she has A.D.H.D.

Alot of the times kid with this will have OCD, Anxiety, and any other emotional stuff because there brains are different. It can all be treated with medicine. Not all kids with ADHD have anxiety problems.

  11. really, ADHD has to deal with what you do about it. i was diagnosed with ADHD about 10 years ago. if you use medication, NEVER make your child feel like they need it by saying things like "did you take your pills this morning, because your acting different". that will bring down the childs self esteem. also, children with ADHD are usually known to be smarter than the average child. My state test scores are in the 98 percentile. You need to listen to your child about any emotional issues they have, because ADHD also is known to be associated with another problem like OCD or autism. Never make your child feel like they are different. talk to your child and tell them that many people, even adults, have ADHD so your child doesnt feel different.
