  1. My boys used to be like that with me and my husband when it came to cleaning their ears they hated it. Then I found these Beeswax Ear Candles. The person lays on their side and you put the ear candle in their ear and light the other end with a match or lighter and it burns down creating a suction (like a tornado) and it sucks the ear wax up. Then you put a few drops of oil (usually comes with the candles) on a cotton ball and gently set it in the ear for few minutes.

I have to tell you my boys prefer that method as opposed to sticking the Qtip in their ear which really isn't the greatest. They actually ask to have it done. We do it every 2-3 weeks. My boys have never had ear infections, not sure if it is because of this. I have heard that some kids are just prone to ear infections so not sure if this will help you prevent that but just an alternative idea.

  2. Yes they do they give Amoxycillin (sp) its a banana liquid that my son has regular for ear infections ..she should be old enough to know you clean her ears for her own good, never insert a bud into the ear canal they should always be used just around as this can push the wax further into the ear if inserted

  3. Get off the internet and go to a Doctor. NOW. A child who's vomiting because of an ear infection obviously needs medical attention from a professional.

I doubt they'd turn you away if her symptoms are so severe.

  4. I PERSONALLY WOULDNT CLEAN THEM ONLY ON THE OUTSIDE WHAT YOU CAN SEE AS YOU WLL JUST IRRATATE IT EVEN MORE I WOULD GET ANOTHER DOCTORS OPINION AND ASK FOR SOME ANTIBIOTICS TO CLEAR IT UP  I THINK DOCTORS DONT GIVE KIDS ANTIBIOTC LIKE THEY USE TO AS KIDS GET USE TO THEM AND THEIR BODYS LEARNS TO ADJUST SO THEY DONT WORK

  5. My toddler just got over an ear infection... with the help of antibiotics, so, yes, they do give out meds... Also, your daughter is 6! Clean her ears, whether she likes it or not!

*edited* And, by 'clean her ears,' I'm not meaning with a Q-tip jammed in her ear canal, in case anyone wondered. :)

  6. Take her to a doctor! She sounds very sick, I've suffered from ear infections as a child, but they never induced vomiting.

  7. It sounds like an ear infection she may need antibiotics take her to the doctor and they can verify what she has and give her something...

  8. Why don't doctors give them anything? I don't know if it is correct to do so. But we would wipe our ears with Peroxide when we had scratches in the ears. Scratches from finger cuticles or mesquito bite's.. Please confirm if it is safe for children before doing. Peroxide might not be the answer. But it seems strange that doctors cannot give them SOMETHING! Good Luck

  9. i was given antibiotics for an ear infection not long ago

  10. Teach her how to clean her ears herself. Get the whole family to do it at the one time. Make sure you supervise her very closely though, as cotton buds can be dangerous.

Or, get another family member to allow you to clean their ears a few times while she's around. She'll begin to think it's normal and will let you.

I'm sure a good doctor would be able to come up with meds in the meantime.

  11. were you told that by a doctor, or Mary Jo at work?  it sounds like your child is very sick, so try the doctor, or a different doctor.

  12. hi , my son is 5 and has suffered repeated ear infections , diagnosed with glue ear . have you asked for a referal to an ent doc ? cud be glue ear as these infections come on v suddenly , usually near to a cold the child has had , its worth checkin out . its tru u should only clean the outer , visible part of the ear , preferably with boiled cooled water as its sterile . if the pain is extreme during an infection u can rotate , stagger or even combine both neurofen and calpol , but be sure to keep on top of ur times n doses . if it is glue ear , most kids grow out of it naturally around 7 , grommits are now not so popular with docs as many times not necessary . please be aware that if during an infection your childs ear has a reddish or brown discharge this may mean the eardrum has perforated , dont panic , it will heal very quickly . as 4 antibiotics , yes gps do give 4 ear infections .always go to gp , best to be safe and with a perforation antibiotics are a total necessity .

  13. how do u clean her ears? Ur not suppose to use cotton buds to clean ur ears. Its really harmful and can cause damage and infection.just use some tissue to clean outside the ear and a lil bit inside but dontgo fully in the ear canal.

  14. be gentle! =)

  15. you really should just let the ears clean them selves..or get that solution at the chemist that squirts in the ear...you can damage the ear with ear buds, nurophen will help ease the pain and dont get them wet, or use earplugs in the water!!  talk to the pharmasist, they are usually very helpful...good luck

  16. You can get tubes put in that drain the ears and stop the infections.  If she is having continual infections, then I would say it is time to request more information on this procedure.  They don't hurt and help tons of children!

  17. they do give antibiotics for ear infections

    GO TO THE DOCTOR

    its a banana one

    :)

  18. You don't need to clean her ears, and if you are trying to then this could well be the cause of her ear infections. It compacts the wax and damages the inside of the ear canal. Ears clean themselves.

It's not true that doctors don't give kids anything for ear infections any more - if your daughter is having a bad time she may well need antibiotics. What they do is see whether they will go away rather than giving antibiotics at the first sign.

  19. i had an ear infection last year and they gave me antibiotics.  ability to keep the ear clean does not prevent infections. it sounds like she could have a strep throat too.

  20. I agree with the Bud Q. You should not use Qtips to clean the ear. My husband got cellutitis- a dangerous infections on his face that needed antibiotics or he would have been hospitalized.

I think Drs. still give antibiotics. Your daughter needs some kind of treatment though. I have a daughter that didn't get treated properly for an ear infection and she totally lost hearing in that area. She had to have a delicate ear surgery (with a specialized specialist) to get back half her hearing in that ear when she was 20. The infection started when she was a lot younger and took 10 yrs to get to the bad stage.

My first 4 children had ear infections- after they had their immunizations. Every single one of that got sick after their third DPT. And now children are given way more than they got. Immunizations lower the immune system and some have mercury etc.

My next 4 children had NO ear infections- I stopped letting them get immunizations. They never had an immunization.

My advice is to go to the dr and get the antibiotic now and hopefully prevent what my daughter had to go through. Start studying about immunizations and their dangers. And Stop playing around with Q Tips.
