We just recently found out our 6 year old is lactose intolerant. We know most cheeses are made with milk but are there any cheeses that are not or made with a lactaid type milk or soy?

  1. many people who are called "lactose intolerant" are only that way with cow's milk.

    Try goat cheeses.

  2. try the deli type, less processed cheeses some even say"lactose free", as do some milk products.

    try:

    -organic valley milk

-deli kraft cheeses & shaker parm & romano

    -finlandia deli cheeses

-some cheese sticks too- look under the ingredients

  3. vegan cheese

  4. soy cheese (it doesnt really taste like cheese but its a good substitute.

  5. The good news is that he can eat just about any cheese. Lactose is the sugar in milk. In the cheese fermentation process, microorganisms convert this lactose into lactic acid, which won't give your son any problems.

Also, go to a near-by supermarket, ask them if they have soy free vegan cheese/milk/dairy products and they should tell you :)

  7. besides the vegan cheeses that you can buy at the supermarket or health food stores, some lactose intolerant people can tolerate cheeses made from goats milk.

  8. Vegan cheese. I buy this kind called Smart Beat!
