  1. First follow the adjust clutch advise. If it still will not run in first- Here is a few IF's-If the engine has a sticky float-or c**p in the carb- It may run when you rev it up in neutral but not when you slow down enough to put it in gear. -Next if- by chance (and VW's love chance) the points wished to wear out at that moment(seeming to flood) they may bounce enough at higher rpm-ie. neutral-to continue to run till slowed down for a gear shift. Other wise the other guys have it. Adjust the clutch -Wind the wing nut towards the back of the car for looser.

  2. Clutch is not disengaging fully.   There is a nut you can tighten under the drivers side rear tire area of the motor( a wing nut) on a threaded rod)

  3. The clutch is your problem.  The clutch pedal should move not more than one inch before it engages.  The adjustment is above the trans axel and easily adjusted.  On top of the trans axel is a butterfly nut.  That is what you use to adjust the clutch.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Change the clutch or adjust it.
